What do people think of veteran seargeants in guard squads because a Guard squad with a veteran seargent and close order drill makes them leadership 9 this is as good a space marine squads with veteran sergeants thanks.
Personally I find utilising LD bubbles provided by your officers to be a more effective solution as it doesn't require you to bunch your men together. In addition when using their own LD the Guardsmen can't benefit from Iron Discipline (excellent excellent excellent doctrine).
I have played against IG armies who use that method to boost their LD, needless to say the Hellhound and various templates ruined their day.
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
Yeah, I wouldn't recommend relying on COD for the Ld benefits. There's a reason the doctrine is free - you sometimes pay when you actually try and use it, due to tactical problems.
As for veteran sergeants, Triumph is correct - your officer's are better at the whole LD thing, i'd preferentially go down that path. There may be moments when you feel a veteran sergeant could be a better option - an extra plasma pistol in the squad, or perhaps when you are using drop troops extensively and cannot rely on your officer's Ld bubble, but still...
In all honesty, I did field a vet sergeant with a boltgun in one of my squads in the conflict tournament I went to a little while ago, but that was mainly because I liked the look of the bionic techmarine boltgun on my guardsman. Not for any real tactical reason.
"Pickles, the drummer, doodily doo. (Ding-dong, doodily, doodily, doo.)"
Also, you should google "garfield minus garfield". Awesome.
I don't play droptroops, but I agree that's probably one of the few armies that vet sarges would be worth it.
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
The CoD can be a great payoff, or a big nightmare, I personally have never had problems with it, but I see why it could be bad. I have used it mainly for the initiative bonus it grants you, it has paid off lots here, especially against kroot (one of my main opponents plays Tau). I would never dare bring it to a hellhound or russ heavy guard opponent though.
As far as vet sarge, i agree that unless its a drop pod army, or maybe a armored fist squad that will actually be mounting up and getting away from the Ld bubbles, then don't bother.
Battlesuits, putting the BS in BullS*%t.
Thanks guys i was mainly wondering because in the army list section u don't see much and i thought it was only for points cheers
