Having read this in another server, I thought it would be interesting to post some of our best last stands we had with are armies and how they turned out. I'll start.
It would defenetly be my EC when I was fighting a pure CC Tyranid army. He came with a flying tyrant, a cranifex w/3 warriors, and 3 giant swarms of little bugs against a marash, EC, 2 tornados, and two squads of Crusaders. To make it short, by the end of turn 4, all I had was my EC w/5 Initiates against a giant swarm of bugs, the Carnifex w/2 wounds and the 3 warriors. Being a pure BT player at heart, I assulted the swarm and I delt a total of 11 wounds on the charge, which he failed all of them, and they broke and ran but I caught up to them and overran into the Carnifexs squad. We continued to whittle each other down until it was the Carnifex w/2 wounds against the EC w/ 2 wounds also. He struck first and delt 3 wounds, which I saved two, and then the EC, finished the game by buring the Black Sword into the beasts head to win the game. Pertty much the Emperors Champion killed of 20 bugs, the warriors and Carnifex to win me the game.
I was once playing eldar with my marines (and losing) and one of the last men to die was a missile launcher marine from my dev squad who had fallen back and would now have to stand up to a gaurdian squad of about 10+ models within 12". After rolling all his to hits and to wounds I was happily informed that this man would have to save about 9 wounds!
After much prayer whispering I rolled and passed all but one save! I know this is more like a last fall over then a last stand but I thought that those odds it was pretty good to only suffer one wound. cursed aliens

Why just tonight, a drop poding tactical squad ending up in assault with a tyrant and a ravener. It was the last turn, this was my last tactical squad that was still a scoring unit. The tyrant only has 1 wound left, the revenger is fine. I've got 10 marines. The mission is secure and control, the problem is I need to kill this tyrant and get over to the last objective to contest it. Since I already held one.
The tyrant and ravener smite 3 marines. The boys put a wound on the ravener, the fist scores 2 hits.......double 1s. Moral check, marines hold, tyrants turn, he kills another 2 marines, the marines finish off the ravener, and power fist scores 1 hit...6 to wound. Massacre roll: 1 inch. Just close enough to contest the objective! The difference between a solid victory and a draw.
The tyrant dying also let me sweep a squad of gaunts that otherwise would have survived, not all that many victory points, but decent.
I had a the last survivor armed with a missile launcher from a devastator squad go one on one for three turns with a leman russ annihalator in a city fight game. He could have done something more useful with his tank, but was winning and thought "what the hell, lets finish that squad off". After three turns of misses, failed armour penetration, rolling 1 to wound and loads of passed armour saves, my hero got zapped by the lascannon.
The sergeant of a tactical squad had his unit butchered by three assault terminators, he was saved by his combat shield and then proceded to crush all the terminators with his power fist. It was an ambush game so he spent the last two turns chasing after a squad, that was heading for their exit point, taking pot shots at them with his bolt pistol. "Come back you cowards and fight!"
I once lost horribly bad to a drop troop IG force. Turn 2 he deepstruck with amazing rolls 120 men and only a remnant squad died on the deep strike. He then kills almost every person I have, except for a dread, assault squad + chappy, 1 terminator, and 4 men from a tac. squad.
My termie assaults some about 4 IG, is eventually killed. My dread is immobilised and lascannon destroyed, and my assault squad and chappy after killing a squad failed to massacre into another and got annihilated. This left my 3 men and vet. sgt with power weapon and bolt pistol to face way too many IG. My squad decided to fire its only plasma pistol, that of the sgt. He promptly kills himself. Then the 3 men assault the IG squad, kill a few, suffer a casualty in return. On my opponents turn he charges in like 30 guards men, strike simultaneously due to Close order Drill on the Guard squads, I kill a couple more and he kills 1. I only have 1 man left. That 1 man proceeds to survive the next 2 full turn surrounded by over 40 IG! He finally dies, but what a stand.

Years ago (in an edition far far away) I had a 5 man scout squad (bolt pistol and ccw) tear through half a dark eldar army. In the end I was down to one man but they won me the game easily.
Well , it was mid game , and i knew the guy was going to win ( chaos , had 4 obliterators , 2 tac squads plasma , dev squad , dread and master with chaos spawn vs what i had left 1 dev squad 4 ml's and a 4 man tac with a pf ) . the tac squad was in combat with the oblits and he kiilled 4 i killed nothing , my dev squad killed the dread barely , then it started to happen . . The emperor saved me . . well not really , but the staff gave me his special dice after taht my 3 marines all hit , 2 wounded and snake eyes ! Then he hit all but one attack then only killed enough marines to have my pf left ! then i killed him with my PF =) . Then my dev squad shot a tac squad killing it ( fell back then died ) . But then i relized . . without your chaplain with jump pack and lightning claws will take you only so far . . Then his master and chaos spawn ate my pf guy and ran back to the trees . after 4 turns of shooting , i made every 5+ cover save =) , but i lost =( .
One of my Tactical squad leaders is Sgt. Paratus, a custom model with a combi-flamer and nothing else-no power weapons-because he likes to 'lead by example'...and he actually has, several times.
One day a squad of 6 Ultramarine Termies plus a Chaplain teleported in and shot up his 8-man las/plas squad down to the literal last man, Paratus. Passing both morale and 'last man standing' tests, he ran at the Terminators and triggered his flamer. Seven hits, one died! The terminators ignored Paratus and were forced to walk around him, shooting at another squad. Paratus passed his next standing test and rapidfired...another Terminator died! Peeved, my opponent targeted him with a plasma cannon. It got hot (but he lived)! Then a plasma rifle interrupted his victory jig.
Sgt. Paratus' finest moment!

The only man left at the end of turn 5 was my powerfist weilding commisar against the only three Iron Warriors left and they were on attack bikes. At the start of turn 6, only the commisar was standing. He got lots of medals modelled on him after that one.
Where the heck did all them guardsmen come from?
Great Wolf! Is that the howl of the 13th?
There was a mate of mine at my club with one half man guardsman unit with a grenade launcher and missile launcher. He was playing another of my mates with two falcons and a wave scerpent left. He managed to get the eldar player to take pity and tank shock him with all those skimmers on the one unit, hoping to run then down, or make them flee. He managed to distroy them all with a immobbilised, destroyed and destroyed roll. and two of them were taken down by the grenade launcher.
