    Question on Heavy Weapons Teams

Ok I'm a little confused about heavy weapons teams.

So in an infantry squad of 10 when you add a heavy weapons team does it become 8 guardsmen and the team or 10 guardsmen and the team added on?

If the heavy weapons team takes a wound can it still shoot or does it become just one guardsman?

Thanks in advance for the help.

8 guardsmen and the team. Remember though that the team is part of the squad and will thus most likely be the last ones to die from enemy shooting since it's you who choose which member of a squad it is that falls casulty.

As long as any member of a heavy weapon team remains alive the weapon is still fully operational with no negative modifiers whatsoever.

Which begs the question: Why are there 2 members to a team anyway,if the second guy has so little to do that he can still fire his lasgun?

Lugging ammo around, and so forth. Maybe one is even a sighter. But it's just to give heavy weapon guys the ability to not be wiped out with just one casualty.

After all the separate Heavy Weapons Teams only have 6 guys. Wouldn't it suck that with 1 Guardsman casualty you lose a Lascannon?

Sure,I get that much. I just don't think it makes much sense that even with the second guy dead, you don't take any penalties or anything.

Maybe they could add something like a little bonus for as long as the second guy is alive? I have no idea what would be fair, but it would be cool to see.

Why do Eldar weapon platforms have two crew members? Nobody knows, it's for fluff. Doesn't really have any bearing on the game, yet.

Well, when it comes to Eldar, the real question is why the heavy weapon platform is,rules-wise,entirely non-existant?

Whenever you see the word "Team" just think "Two Models." For every prupose, consider them as two separate models on two separate bases, just like back when they used to be. The whole once base thing is purely cosmetic.

To avoid losing heavy weapons to mind war and similar model-targeting abilities?

I think we may have this wrong here. In a squad of ten guards, you buy the heavy weapon for the squad, it just takes two guards to man/load it. The whole unit operates as a team. This makes sense because the opposition can't say that oh these shots are going on the HW team in that squad. You remove the casualities as you see fit. Basically it is an add on the squad and every guards is trained to operate it fluff wise. If it was the other way around then there would have to be two leadership test to be made in the squad. You don't do that, the whole squad takes the leadership test together. It is just like you can buy a special weapon for a guard. You don't have to have them in the squad.
Where the heck did all them guardsmen come from?

Great Wolf! Is that the howl of the 13th?
