    Drop Troops on Drugs...

    Im toying with an Idea

An all out full drop Army-Carapace,Chem Inhalers,Veterans,Drop Troops,H.fighters

Two platoons-carapce,voxes,chemis,and flamers, CS with plazma/melta
    HQ with master vox,drop,chemi,cara

Add vets as tank busters, chemi,cara,drop,Melta/plazma

And if points will be enough some Sentinels with H.flamers and maybe Hardened Fighters

The idea is to not place anything on table and than drop like locust upon the heathens..
i mean Xenos tried it on little points and it was succes, against Dark eldar i managed to drop all in second turn and destroy ALL he had... well except one rider

Only point of concern are 3+ armies, u think such a tactic could work on them ?

Ok, the general idea is cool. I like the "adrinaline-craving druggies on a rampage". I have some points for you to ponder about, though.

First of, the doctrines. Chem-inhalers is a must obviously, since they raven-mad junkies. Aside from the fluff its also a great piece of hardware. They wil basically never run away unless they are in CC. Drop Troops is another one which is a definate must. Its great and lets you be very flexible with your troops. Veterans ROCKS! They are great at taking up a good firing position and unleashing hell.

Now for the Carapace Armour... I would scrap it. It costs you 20 points a squad, so for every 3 squads you can get one bare bones infantry squad! Having numbers on your side is ALWAYS better than having longer-lived troops. Since they don't run away very often the save is of less importance as well. Hardend Fighters is way to expansive for what it does. So scrap it.

Things I would include Close Order Drill. This is, in my oppinion, the best doctrine there is. It increases your iniative to a healthy 4 so you can swing at the same speed as most troops. The additional leadership is good as well, but the best thing is that its free. The second one I always use is Storm Troopers. I figure that Storm Troopers can be as addicted to chems as normal soldiers. Stormies are just great at shooting anything, plus they can save most small arms.

    Recommended doctrince:
    - Drop Troops
    - Chem Inhalers
    - Veterans
    - Storm Troopers
    - Close Order Drill

    A list that will work:

    HQ

    Command Squad
    Junior Officer
    Honorifica Imperialis
    Power Weapon
    Plasma Pistol
    Retinue
    Guardsmen (4)
    Veteran w. Medi-pack
    Master-Vox
    Chem-inhaler

    Points: 126

    ELITES

    Hardend Veteran Squad
    Veteran Sergeant
    Hardend Veterans (5)
    Melta guns (3)
    Chem-inhaler (for fluff)

    Points: 93

    Hm.. some point there

But, Cara is important. When i played against Tau they withstood first turn of fire and Rapid-fired me in return, Carapaces saved my ass back then lost only 9 IG to 6+8 FW and 3 Crisis suits, normal Flak would have failed me...

COD, never thought about that but i think ur right m8 if i gave officers Powerweapons they could have even striked once

Heavy weapons are a bit overkill, if i drop entire army they cant shoot and such troopers dont survive their first turn

Besides i like sentinels, H.flamers add to the thrill. Burning Tau Xenos infantry with one shot makes me so horny :shifty:

Maybe switch Carapace with Chameleonine... mhm... hard choice

I simply Dig the idea of Drug inducted heavily armored troops droping from skies....
And the opponents confusion when he realizes he deploys and i drop after that

Don't switch carapace for cameoline in drop troops, remember you can't drop INTO cover or move the turn you arrive, so you'll be standing out the open where your cameoline does a whole load of not a lot.

Fie on those who dismiss carapace! Longer lived troops is a fantastic thing to have. When I played with tau after using IG for a long time I was so surprised to see my troops survive being shot by things! More men is good yes, but 20pts a unit isn't as much as everyone says it is. Especially when you're paying 20pts for a unit of veterans to have it, as 3* squads of veterans who didn't die to bolter fire is better than 3 half-dead squads of veterans and an infantry squad.

If you do want to fit some sentinels in, i'd advise it as they can really be great. Don't go down the road of heavy flamers though, i've got one equipped like that and it never does anything, unless I give it a hunter killer missile and it gets lucky! Go with the autocannon everytime. any opportunity to get an autocannon... mmm... autocannon
If I've replied, i've probably used Italics...

Actually as far as I know there is nothing preventing you from dropping into cover safely (barring a bad scatter). Difficult terrain has no effect on deepstrikers, only Impassible terrain does.

Indeed, Deep Striking in cover is no problem. And lets be real, I'll take a decent cover-save over a good armour save any day. There are loads of AP 4 and lower weapons out there.

Well true, but a good Carapace will save u from all those AP5 standart weapons, not many basic troop guns got AP4...

Oh well, i gotta do a wicked army list and try it out, hm.. maybe in vassal.. :ninja:

I think something like this should be nice the amount of Plazma should shake even 3+ armies and Vets with meltas are tank busters supreme.... Of course, if they land where they should ^^

P.S dang... pasted it from Notepad never expected something like that
