Hail Servants of the Emperor!
It's me yet again, I have collected, for the most part...two full companies of my Custom chapter, The Black Knights. At first I jsut wanted versatility in my army..but then I decided that If I could at least. Semi-Match the Ultramarines Army pic in the SM codex..wow. But anyway, I want to go about collecting the Tenth company of The Black Knights...but I want to play them as such too..not jsut have them. So an interesting thought occured to me...six troop choices full of scouts, sounded okay...Six troop choices with heavy bolters...sounded better. Six Troop choices full of Sniper rifles and heavy bolters giving me Sixty models AND 80 Shots per turn at 36 Inches! Wellt hat soudned great....I thought about it and, what iwth the mad verrsatility of scouts...Just think of the INFILTRATION Move, closing that 36" gap even more,a nd the pinning tests...as wella s clearing up points for some Vetern squads(training the scouts) Or Terminators (Crisis control should things get FUBAR) well it sounded appealing, that and hook them up with Rhino's for that added Rapid Response theme..and I think it sounds goood...gimme your opinions please!
well I would put everything in a vehicle with armour 11 or higher, and just cruise around and blast you 2 pieces, or I drive to you and step out and assault.
Well obvisouly I would Have devestators and Termies to mince your Vehicle's, and scouts aren't terrible in assault. I think you migth need to step your arrogance downa bit if you r going to post in someones Thread, someone l;ooking for honest critique, not grandstanding.
Just remember that scouts with sniper rifles cost 18 pts each and that a scout with heavy bolters cost 28? points each so if you are going to have that many scouts do not forget that whoever you are facing will have that many ........ (whatever)
For example: If you were facing a dark eldar army, it is most likely that dark eldar will run out (yes run out I say) of choices on the force organisation chart which means that like it or not you are going to be facing some anti sniper units (ravager, grotesques) whether you like it or not, whether he/she likes it or not
I think its a good fluff idea, but youll never win...
so many scouts costs tons of points, and you will be destroyed by high-armor foes...
you can add some devs, but that would cost extra points and would mean more enemys...
but if you really want, take them...
not all the scouts need to be armed with sniper rifles. think
infiltate to 18" then move 6" you are then able to fire with bolters or bolt pistols.
for 13pts you got a better weapon than a sniper rifle and if you want some very effect assault troops take bolt pistol.
its all good, no need to over spend and remember to give ure sergents assault weapons. good combos for veteran scouts is combi-melta and power weapon or power weapon/fist and storm sheild. melta bombs are always good.
seriously nearly a hundred scouts (assuming your opponent allows you take two organisation charts) with rapid firing bolters can cause alot of hurt in a 1500pts battle.
Don't forget scout bikes!
I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight... razor... and surviving.
Im with wyrd. Take about half of the as CC scouts. That frees up a lot of pts and gives you many more options. I dont think you should take termies or veterans if you want to keep the fluf.
In the index astartes it says there are scouts, scout bikes, and the hqs. That would prove difficult to use in an actual game. Go for one dev squad or a pair of dreads to take on heavy armor.
