I'm thinking of starting an Armoured Company army soon, just so I can get some FW tanks
I've been reading through the rules, but have come across a couple problems
1. Do vehicles take difficult terrain tests? I thought they only took dangerous terrain tests. If so, what is the use of the Dangerous Terrain Modification upgrade?
2. If I fail a Dangerous Terrain test, it says the "vehicle is immobilised". If I have Track Guards, it says the "vehicle treats 'immoblised' results as...". Do the two work together or not? I'm assuming not, but just wanted to check.
I dont know much about AC, but am going to make a rough 1500pts list soon. I want pure tanks - Yes I know it can be fairly easily countered, but it's mainly for the fun/looks.
I'd probably have a Conqueror with a few upgrades (Heavy Bolter sponsors/turret, Track Guards, Extra Armour, Pintle Heavy Stubber) as the lead tank (not commander though) supported by a Vanquisher (AT) and of course a couple Battle Tanks and Demolishers.
Doctrine-wise I'm not sure, but apart from the tank ones I'm looking at Side Skirts, Ace Gunners, Ace Driver, Improved Sponsors, Crush and Grind and Ace sponson gunners. I know I cant take all BTW, I'm not that stupid Probably the first three, plus the two tank ones.

Finally, a tank thread!
If you're moving 1-6" in terrain you roll 1d6 and on a roll of 1 you're immobilized the instant you hit terrain, however, if you have rough terrain modification installed, you may choose to reroll the dangerous terrain roll.
As for track guards and rough terrain modification working together I'm not sure, but even if they did, avoid using track guards, they're simply not worth their points - AC tanks tend to get too expensive anyways.
Your tank gets glanced and the penetration roll shows an immobilized effect. You roll for track guards and succeed; your tank is not immobilized, however since track guards and extra armour don't stack your tank is still stunned meaning that you still can't move for a turn.
In comparision, your tank gets a glancing hit and becomes immobilized, but since you're not stunned or shaken you still get to shoot back.
Also, I'd advice against using Conquerors aside from fluff reasons, unless your opponent really loves putting his models the other Russ variants come out on top every time. Might I suggest going for an Exterminator instead?
I was playing around with a list and managed to get a 6-tank 1500pt army. They had loads of upgrades, but I know I could get about 10 tanks in 1500pt if I got not upgrades. Thoughts?
I do LOVE the Conqueror model though, especially the varient like the...Challenger? The long, low turret with spikey dozer blade.
Do you know/is there any AC fluff? I've never really thought about it tbh!
Thats a very good point about the Conqueror vs Exterminator, never thought of that!
I'll think about it some more and post later. Cheers Kaiser for your helpfulness!
