Just getting back into the hobby after years away, collecting a Blood Ravens army and have a few questions.1) Ultramarine names are Latin in origin where do Blood Raven surnames originate from2) Who is the Captain of the Fourth Company
3) I want to paint my army in Codex style i.e. white helmets
for Terminators, Veterans etc. company trim on shoulder
pads is this acceptable.
4) is there anything resembling a Blood Ravens Codex anywhere
sadly there is no blood ravens codex, they were just made up for GWs dawn of war. but, if i remember in the space marine codex by the traits were they give you what chapters use what traits blood ravens were listed there.
I have no clue who is captain of the fourth company, maybe in the dawn of war books it will say but dont get your hopes up, nobody has exactly made it clear about the blood ravens. They are that odd chapter out there that no one wants to write much fluff about or can find any for that matter.
as for the helmets i dot see why not, there is certainly no back ground on it so go for it, it should be interesting.
1) They seem mostly Spanish. Think conquistador and Aztecs.
2) Make him up.
3) That's fine. You can play around with the colour scheme as much as you like, as long as you keep it to the basic dark red/bone white.
4) Nope. There's an Index Astartes article that should tell you everything you need to know about their background, but unfortunately it'll be buried in the GW website somewhere, or else in a distant and musty issue of White Dwarf.
Blood Ravens use the traits in the Space Marine codex (flip to the traits section and then "Chapters of Legend." They have the ones that give infiltrate and True Grit.

Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."
All I could find on the GW website is this one page document
Warhammer 40,000 - Space Marines
It doesnt mention anything about the names. The idea of Spanish Conquistadors fits perfectly. They are very tactical, and when they strike they wipe out everything.
If you build a man a fire he will be warm for a night. If you set a man on fire he will be warm the rest of his life.
here is some info on wikipedia:
Blood Ravens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Be advised that warhammer info on wikipedia does not always constitute confirmed fluff
Do a search on LO! there's a lot of stuff about them posted in various threads, including about their origins.... spooky stuff! :ninja:
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
