Whats your opinion on um?
Love them. I am of teh thought that if there is a commander on the field (captain or master) there should always be a command squad... usually just pay for vet with PF, Meltagun, and sometime the SB... just for kicks... and because I love the model I have for my standard.
The company champion is also neat, but I have an EC already so...
A sad waste of points unfortunately. Although alot of people like them and without any doubt they can be usefull, but I find them to be too expensive a target. I prefer just to stick my commander in with a squad of Marines. I have yet to try out a Terminator command squad but they look as if they could do some damage. But when it comes down to pricing out a list I just don't find it worth it to stick that many points into a singe squad.

I usually have a character attached to an assault squad since I like the mobility or a terminator squad since I like a commander in termi armor.
I often make this squad look a little prettier than the average squad. For instance just because you have a standard does not meant hat it is the company standard or that in cost points. Make sure you tell your opponent that. I am sure if it looks nice they wont care.
If you build a man a fire he will be warm for a night. If you set a man on fire he will be warm the rest of his life.
I'd always put an apothecary in one, but other than that, keep them pretty cheap. Unless you've got a specific purpose for them, I don't like the standard or the other gee-whiz upgrades. I think it depends on which chapter you play as well. Some have better options than others.
