Alright, so i'm creating a big web of fluff concerning my DH army and two others (I'll be posting fluff later on about how my three armies will combine and ally ect)
And one of the armies i'd like to start is an all Storm-Trooper army.
So I'd like to know, is it possible to to create an all Storm Trooper army that works well? Keep in mind I don't care about points or anything like that. Its a purely fluffy army.
I'd like it to be able to actually fight as well, so a way of including heavy weapons and whatnot without taking away from the Storm Trooper esqe theme would be great.
yeah you can use the carapace doctrine to give regular infantry stormtrooper armour (takes some easy converting with greenstuff for heavy weapons, use of kasrkin models works okay for basic troops if you don't know how or don't wanna learn how to use greenstuff). grenadiers doctrine allows you to take stormtroopers as troops choices so that enables the 2 troop choices that are compulsory to be stormtroopers plus like 1 more or something. normal stormtrooper doctrine allows for the selection of stormtrooper squads as elites
that's really all there is to making a stormtrooper army, good luck!
Ya, I would just take the grenadier doctrine. I don't know if you have more then 6 squads of stormies. If so they could just be base infantry with carpace armor. And, if you have to money, buying or building your own valkaryie would be very awsome for your stormies.
When goblins blow themselves up its stupidity. But when humans blow themselves up its bravery....odd isn't it
It is possible to create a stormtrooper army.
It isn't possible to make one that is very competitive. Basically, it'll be too small numbers wise. Unless you're more interested in the carapace armor then the ld 8, BS 4 and hellguns which is what I think of when considering stormtroopers. Whereupon you could just give CP armor for 20 pts per squad to a bunch of grunts.
and as people have said a million times....give carapace armor to a squad of vets

Hrm. Vets still take up an elite choice. So in order to get carapace armored vets, you'd have to give up regular stormtroopers. So if you want an all stormtrooper army, you'd still end up with only around 60 solid troops. That may sound like alot at first blush to some players, but it isn't. a Space Marine or Necron army can easily field that many models. So I fear that a stormtrooper army will be padded pointwise with lots of unneeded doctrines, wargear and chimeras.
You can make an all stormtroopers army, but I wouldnt recommend it... it takes away from what the IG are good at, throwing a lot of bodies at the baddies
if all you wan't is an all storm trooper army, then take an inquisitor. deploy inquisitorial storm troopers and induct anything else you need ( I know, you can't get the basalisk or demolisher, but you have your storm troopers)
You can have a total of eight storm trooper squads in an IG army. Take the grenadiers doctrine, wich gets you three as troops choices, take three as elites choices, and then take two squads of inquisitorial storm troopers.
Hmmm...Ok, it seems that everone is against the idea of an all Storm army, but the question was, How can we do it?, not, Should I do it? Well anyways to get back on topic, I would stick with IG and not DH, since you said it's about fluff and all. One of the logical things as everyone has said, is to get the doctrine of storms. and greniaders (spll, whatever). Fill up the grenade slots with all three storms and sit them in chimeras, take 1-2 elites of storms...so you can deepstrike or infil. Since you are now in the trap of doctrines, I'd just take Vets. for the last elite, since they don't take up a doctine point. Anyways, Vets are very much related to Storms...I'm trying to get as close as I can without throwing it off balance. You need some fire power, so Heavy Squads are nice, including the ones from your HQ squad. Put a basilisk here and there Sentinels, tanks you know what to do. Hope this has given you and idea, Ciao!
