whats so good about theM. just some thoughts that people have. i know they have lots of potential, but unpredictable. also, do they count as having powerweapons?
You've got Grey knights and a plethera of other options to get and have them used more effectively and being less targetable..
Deamonhost = very unpredictable..
can be a godsend if you get what you want...
otherwise it's a hit or miss kind of thing..I mean
but it's not THAT bad..no

Well, they aren't actually that "good". Not when you consider all the GK units you must give up to use them in the balance. But if you're playing radical, they're a must. They're unpredictable, and honestly, that's their main selling point. Like assassins and orbital strikes, they're a disruptive unit that primarily attacks the psychology of your opponent. They may not do what you want, exactly, but all enemies will take their presence very seriously.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

Main point I'd like to point out daemonhosts = no gray knights ><
But I think the main point is deterrent, most generals will move units away from them in deployment to avoid them due to their possible power and unpredictability, so can be used as a deployment control (like the sniper assassin (damn my memory vindicare?))
The fact that it can dissapear is a bit annoying, but it has potential power (think the arcoflagelants) sometimes they go through units like a power sword through a grot, other times they trip over their own shoes (claws talons etc) and impale themselves on a conveniently placed sharp rock. Its a trade in, some games it will be good others it'll suck.
For me however they will never be a choice (not again anyway lol) as it means i can't choose grey knights...
BTW let me know how they work if you actually try them ^^
I was just curious, do they count as having power weapons? From what I can tell, they don't, which in my opinion drastically reduces their effectiveness and appeal.
No they don't have power weapons, but they do have the best powers in the game IMHO.
Prey they don't take you alive
I love using them in a radical force...
They are great in hand to hand esp when their psy powers are working for them, also they scare the daylight out of the enemy.
I've had them and a c/c =][= survive half an army on top of them.
But they are a risk, but thats what makes them so much fun
Much must be risked in war.
Blood Angel Stormraven Conversion Work In Progress.
I just finished reading Hereticus by Dan Abnett and was so close to buying a few daemonhosts (having read the rules and deseperatly hopinh i would get 2s 5s and 6s all the time, but seeing as i've just ordered loads fo Gray Knights it would kinda defeat the object, but i may have to give them a try
