We are trying to improve our subscription packages here at Librarium Online by asking our members. What does it take to make you subscribe at LO for $5 or $10 per month ?
Please let us know so we can give you more in return for your money
Blackhat's new blog network for terrain crafters!
I think the knowledge that at least part of the money is going towards something "obviously" productive - such as sponsored painting/writing/conversion contests complete with prizes and the likes - would help justify it to some people. Other sorts of subscriber incentives could be explored, too, though I can't come up with much that'd be worthwhile off the top of my head.
Something I think would be cool that is inspired by Swoopo and LN's contest idea is have weekly drawings for GW models, paints, brushes, ect...
So, rather than having to spend $5.00 on a monthly subscription someone could spend $1.00 (or more..) on a "ticket" for a chance to win say a $35.00 box set. The point being that normally more people will bid than the amount of the box set.
You could just have a paypal button at the top of the page that people could click on and instantly be in the running to win the item.
I think this would be cool and something I and hopefully a lot of others would be willing to take part in. I can foresee shipping being an issue though and a lot more work for however would be given this task.
As an aside, I know personally I'm not willing to make the commitment to spending $5-10 a month on a subscription to a website, but I would be willing to every now and again splurging and spending some money.
While I am not a subscriber on LO, I am on deviantArt, this is due to it costing only 7.95 for three months, making it seem more reasonable. 5 a month adds up to nearly double what deviantArt charges for the same amount of time.
Also more incentives would help, like a Subscriber only forum. That should work better than the Enhanced forum did as the members who subscribe will value LO more.
For now, let's just brainstorm ideas. We can worry about the merit of them later. Towards the end, we'll compile a list of proposed ideas and look at them from the different perspectives of everyone on LO: mods, members, Blackhat, whomever. But at the moment, all ideas are welcome. Just good old fashioned brainstorming.
Im with LN's idea, the contests are a great idea. Conversion, modelling, painting, articles and perhaps even vote war would be good, Rabbit asked myself to run the next 40K one, what more of an incentive to give than a monetry prize?
I see other forums sometimes having sponsored competitions by suppliers, is this a possibility for LO? They get advertisement on the forum, the winner/s get x from there store?
More subscribers, more prizes, more tournements?
I was very tempted to become a subscriber with my recent winnings.
-A nice bright star behind the subscribers' name, like this community award i got
-Different user name color
-New skins for the boards (if i'm paying for it i want to decide what it looks like for me!)
-Send subscribers a free button, something you can put on your armycarrier, or a free sticker (would work tofold as it would work as advertisement)
-Special subscriber newsletter
-Special subscriber discount on affiliate websites
I like forums with a dark skin, so the option of a dark skin for subscribers would be cool
