Nice to see we can get sponsor support for prizes.
Two questions, if I may:
1) Do points count from the beginning? Or from the start of the contest? I ask because if it is from the beginning, then the old, active members here would have a significant starting advantage in points.
2) When does the contest start? Or has it started already?
The Emperor Protects!
And don't you forget it!

To my knowledge though, us screen-addicted Moderator types can't enter, for a few obvious reasons.
This is correct. Especially when it comes to Zemaphore.
1) Yes, from the beginning. But it's not worked off post count (since Nemmy would take that one no problems), it's worked out by how often you are online, and how many posts per day you make (not to be confused with the Posts/Day statistic found in one's profile). Make four or five posts a day for a while, and you should make it into the top 25 no worries. And yes, it's supposed to favour the active members.
2) I think it's started already.
Its great that there is a sponsor now supporting LO. I hope there will be further sponsor based programs in the future.

Of course, you even get some points for responding to the announcement that there is going to be an activity competition.
Is that Irony?
I think it is a great idea. It means that people who love LO and want to contribute to this fab forum can cross their fingers and hope that a very real battleforce will materialise from the online virtual world and appear on their doorstep in the real one.
I for one will be doing my best to contribute consistently and interestingly while the competition is running. When everyone makes an effort the site is just brilliant. Some of the ideas people put out are simply awe inspiring. After all, where would we be without the Tale of Painters or a Tale of Two Titans, or Gareth' project log?
I won't even mention some of the amazing painting I have seen on the forums over the years.
Anything that helps generate that sort of content and interesting responses to that content is fine by me!
Its not worked by post count! but making four or five posts a day will get you into the top 25 no worries. Sorry but how is that not working it out by post count????.
I can come online 35 times a day and post 5 or 6 replies to posts that actually say very little and have a chance of winning the prize.
Take myself for instance I tend to stick to posting pretty much on the Tau forums, I have a decent post count and do post most days, My activity may not be as high as a lot of others but I think the help, advice and tactica's etc I post add more to the forum than a massive activity level and high post spam rate and this applies to many others as well.
While I applaud the thought behind the competition I think it is targeted wrongly. Active member does not mean useful or valuable member. The mods have a good idea who is contributing the most to the forum and the serious members will have a good idea who is contributing the most to the forum.
It should be a vote that decides who is the most usefully active member is, either voted for by the Mods or by the members.
I think this would be a much better way of rewarding a member of the forum for his or her quality of contribution to the forum rather than just rewarding how much someone logs on to the forum or how many posts they make irrespective of quality.
Sorry if I sound negative, I do not mean to be. I would just rather see prizes given to members who contribute good valuable content.

Layer Cake FTW!!!

There is a difference between having 10,000 posts (*cough*Nemmy*cough*), and posting a few times a day. If saidspammerposter takes a break, his activity levels will drop, but his post count will remain the same. There is a difference.
Posting basically shows that you're active on the board. If you have a better way of measuring activity, you know where the Site Feedback forum is.
It's a trust thing. LO prides itself on having mature, helpful, friendly posters. If people aren't posting, then where's the productivity? This is simply designed to stimulate an increase in activity levels on the forums. It should be a vote that decides who is the most usefully active member is, either voted for by the Mods or by the members.
