As most of you who frquent the 40K boards will have noticed, the days of being bogged down in pinned topics are gone. I have been runnig through each forum and they all now have their own "Index" post.
This Index will contain links to Games Workshp FAQ's for the army, aswell as community written articles, FAQs and Tactica.
Now, if you wish to add a Tactica to this Index there are 2 ways to do this.
1) Write the tactica, and them PM it to a member of the GlobalMod, or 40KMod teams. You can also e-mail the article to firstname.lastname@example.org. We can then turn your Tactica into an article and link it on the appropriate index.
2) If you dont want to "go it alone" and want a true community written tactica then, again PM a member of the Global or 40K mod teams. We can create you a Pinned topic that you can place your initial thought in and get the imput of other players.
Note: These will NOT be discussion threads. They will be there for each player to post "mini-tactica" Perhaps for one unit, one item of wargear, one tactic, or whatever. If you disagree with what a person is saying, then write your own tactica for that aspect so we get two sides of the coin.
If you notice a new Chapter Approved article or FAQ (baring the main army FAQs) on the GW site, let one of us know. That way we can keep the links in the Index pointing to all the information people could need.
Missing Tactica - If a tactica that was pinned has now dissapeared then it was probably because as i read through it there was more discussion that tactica. Feel free to re-write the tactica minus the chatter and submit it, the only tactica that have been removed are those that have article replacements now, the others were just unpinned.
Tactica Comments We are NOT trying to stop discussion about the tactica, only to make the forums less cluttered. If there is a point in a tactica that you wish to discuss, then there is the Article Discussion forum. A link is provided at the end of each article for a thread within this forum.
who's idea was it to get rid of the tactica's that had "chatter" in them? I don't quite understand what's wrong with having discussions in a tactica thread? If everyone starts writing all of these articles because they disagree with someone else's article, then new players who read said articles will be confused about which one to believe.
This wouldnt happen in a pinned tactica thread where a new player can read through the discussions following the tactica and see everyones reasons for their beliefs on a certain unit or whatever.
Im not trying to be the dissenter, but there are some tacticas that I was going to look at that are now gone ( specifically, T0nkaTruckDriver's Mech Tau tactica). Not to mention any people that are new to the forums that havent even had the chance to read them. And what if some of the writers of the deleted tactica's dont want to go through all of the trouble of writing them all ovr again, then those of us who planned on reading them again so that it would help our tactics are SOL.
(P.S. Maybe its just me, but i was never "Bogged down" in pinned threads, at most there was like 5 or 6 in a subforum, I dont know if that's what constitutes "Bogging down," but I sure never noticed it.)

We want the pinned tactia to be easily accessable. As stated, if you wish to discuss a tactica you are more then welcome to make a post, link the tactica and discuss it. However if your looking for a "big bad wolf" then it was me, with the backing of most members of the mod team.Originally posted by TheBigJake@Feb 2 2005, 23:51
who's idea was it to get rid of the tactica's that had "chatter" in them? I don't quite understand what's wrong with having discussions in a tactica thread?Which is why there will still be pinned tactica threads while the community does exchange ideas. As for chatter, when was the last time you read a White Dwarf article that had 3/4 of it taken up with random comments from members of the publication team?If everyone starts writing all of these articles because they disagree with someone else's article, then new players who read said articles will be confused about which one to believe.Specifically that tactica is still avaliable, its just not pinned. T0nka has written a full PDF version which Blackhat will be hosting soon.Im not trying to be the dissenter, but there are some tacticas that I was going to look at that are now gone ( specifically, T0nkaTruckDriver's Mech Tau tactica).Meybe Bogged down was to strong a term, but it was reaching a point when you have to draw a line. Why do the threads need pinning in the first place? If the community is actively contributing to them then they will be near the top of the post list. If no-one is posting in the thread then the discussion must have tailed off and the info can be written into an article.(P.S. Maybe its just me, but i was never "Bogged down" in pinned threads,
Just wanted to Apoligize Knape, I didnt even bother looking for some of the missing tacticas where you said that they would be coming back as articles. I just rushed here and started complaining.
Also thanks Lost Nemesis for pointing out to me that the Mech Tau tactica is still there.
Well Ill try not to stick my foot in my mouth too often :hmm:

These tacticas, as Knape pointed out, are in two forms:Originally posted by TheBigJake@Feb 2 2005, 19:15
Ok, as long as some of the tacticas that are unaccesible at the moment will be coming back, I have no problem. I was just wondering at the reasoning behind it.
1) They have been made articles, and you can access them at any time you want.
2) They have simply been unpinned, not deleted, as is the case with the "Intro to Mechanized Tau" thread you mentioned. It's just down there below all of the active topics.
Hope this helps. ^_^
By the way, Knape, great job - this is a huge advancement and already it will be working wonders. No longer do newbies have to check out four to five topics, plus write their own with questions. (Y)
Keep up the good modding.
Is there any plans on putting the fantasy tacticas into articles? If there is only one place you can get 'bogged down' in pinned topics, its that forum.
Hive Fleet Furi Kuri 32/21/4
Tomb Kings: 8/5/2
Im in ur Halo, killin ur covernantz
There will be the fantasy section done, at some point. I'll do this, but when umm.. it'll depend when I can find the time to do so.
