Changes to the LO forum.

In light of some discussion between the mods and admins, we are looking to streamline the way the LO forums are arranged. This post contains a proposed layout for the changes (in black) and any comments you may need to make sence of it (In red).

Please vote in the Poll above as to what you think of the changes. If you vote that you do not like the changes, then you will need to reply in this thread stating why. I will be checking the poll regularly and if the "no" votes do not tally with the posts containing reasons then I will just edit the poll so they do ^_^

We are looking for constructive comments, so that means you will need to say what change you dont like, why you dont like it, and how it could be done better.

If you like the changes we are proposing, then please vote as such, but you do not have to leave a reply unless you wish to.

Now, hopefully everyone can follow that, we look forward to your feedback.

i say yes and no, but mainly yes. IMO these changes will help streamline the forum and thus have more (if that is possible) member activity. the one thing i do not understand is why the clubs and clans section will be hidden. how will we be able to see it if we are members of those clubs or clans? will it be hidden to those who are not taking part of the clubs or clans? if so how will we gain new members?

Well, THe problem with C&C is that (sorry to be harsh) but its mostly rubbish. In the good old days it was the home of book clubs etc... now it seems the only real club in there is the DoW one.

When we discussed the forum changes nobody really knew how to turn the C&C forums around to be better and so rather than do the wrong thing we decided to hide it untill we decide what to do with it.

It should only be down for 1 week, 2 at most.

hahaha thats not really harsh, its kind of true ^_^ . with the exception of us in the LO DoW clan and perhaps the anzac clan, none of the others seem to be really active.

I say yes, but I have to agree with gamesondemand. If a clan forum is hidden how are people going to find them? Yes, only DoW and the Anzac clan are active (and the DoW clan isn't really active ATM but it will be soon) but it seems illogical to hide them from people who aren't in them. We couldn't really have such a great site advocating, in effect, any 'no homers' clans or clubs. I suppose having a link to the clan sites would work, but I don't know if the Azac clan has one.

I agree with having individual subforums for army lists. It was a pain in the arse trawling thorugh list for armies you don't know much about to find anything you can make input towards. That would be the one thing that you should change, if it were down to me.

We're still deciding what to do with it, so until we do, it will be hidden.
Hopefully it'll stay, as I want to renew the LO book club =^.^=

Just to remind anyone. If you vote no and do not give a reason / explanation as to what is wrong and how it can be improved then I will convert your vote to indifferent.

I say yes too. I suppose it's fair enough that the {LO}clan (Me being the founder, if you're interested in joining) remains hidden, as apart from referring who we can to the main site we don't contribute much to it, and we're priveleged that the forum has had it's own section. Still, if there could be a place, or a link or something to our site on the new organisation it would be appreciated, but for the moment i'll just kick all of our members to putting an advert in their sigs or telling their friends.
The army list changes are great, as is the WIP fiction - i don't think I've ever totally finished my fiction in my life, so this will be useful for opinions on it.
And the Clan forum will be up and running in it's full capacity by the end of june. We're currently holding games there under the command of another admin, so go there if you want.

I see no problem with the proposed changes but would like you to consider changing the painting forum to a painting and scenery forum. Although I've never posted in the old scenery forum (*hangs his wookie head in shame*) I do window shop for tips & tricks in the scenery threads.

I'm not opposed to most of the changes but losing the Anzac Clan? Thats not cool.
