Fun Threads?

Are we allowed to have fun threads? It appears most fun threads seem to get locked for being "spam" (and this probably will too...).
Just wondering moderators....does L.O. have to be a serious forum? Can we not have an off-topic conversation area where we can make threads that are considered to be fun? ("The person above you?" thread I thought was fun. Obviously a lot of others thought so too...2500+ posts? Now it is locked and classed as "Spam".....) . I believe in the rules it states spam as being something along the lines of a post just to increase rep. or posts or something? Can we not have a specific forums for game-type threads please? Or shall all these forums be deadly serious?
(Ok that is not strictly true, and different moderators can deem (spelling?) different things as spam....And people find different topics fun....But could we get a clearer description of what is going to be referred to as spam? (And maybe consider a 'fun' kinda forum? If there is already one then please point me in the direction of it.....).

As often as I used to do this (back in the day), I feel it necessary to do it once more.

When a mod makes a decision, PUT UP WITH IT. They know what they are doing. Obviously your definition of 'fun' is somewhat distorted, to say the least.

Concerning your 'fortunate/unfortunate' game, in the nicest words possible, it was less than adequate as far as topics go.

In conclusion, I believe that the right decision was made. All the worst,

I wasn't referring to that thread actually (did you hear me mention it? No.), but the closing of the "The person above you?" thread. It was clearly popular. And I am not having a go at moderators, if it seems that way then I'm sorry for you. I was mainly requesting a forum for thread games....not sure if it was the right place to do it though.....

I agree and I don't ever think "The person above you" thread should have passed the 10 replies but thats just me!
If you need a thread like that, just go do them on a non-topic-specific site! There are some of us who can see the 'fun' in our HOBBY!

Ok yeah, fair enough. I suppose it was getting pretty long..... And again, as for "Fortunately/Unfortunately", yes ok. I agree it was spam. I never disagreed with that did I?
Why do you all seem to think this thread is about that? It was never mentioned. Please, shut up about it. I was just shown it on another website and it looked pretty funny (And yes, my explanation of it was VERY bad and VERY crappy (yes, both!)). I just thought I would try it out here...obviously didn't go down well did it?
I'm so sorry if I DEEPLY offended anyone with that thread. And if I didn't then there is no need to bring it up, is there?

Yeah...I know this is a website on the hobby, and obviously I find it fun to discuss it (which is why I use the friggin site) but I can't see why we can't have a "non-topic-specific" part of L.O. so we can mess around with the people we know here in this site. It isn't as if you would ever have to visit that part if you don't agree with it. Although, it would probably end up just getting spammed many, many times, so I understand not having one. But it was just a harmless suggestion. No less, no more.

i dont mind people closing threads if they get too long or boring, or useless. but if its going to be closed, at least be polite about it and explain in nice terms why you are closing it. other than that, do whatever you want.

Yeah the person above you (for example) was a random fun thread, agreed it was getting near its sell by date but was still good.

Fun threads need to be creative, like the person above you they can generate some hilarious quotes and the like.

Of course we don't have to like mod decisions but their word is final and nine times out of ten they do their job.
