    Poll: Clear Jetbike Bases

Should these clear bases for jetbikes (eldar jetbikes, Necron Destroyers) be flocked and painted or should they be left clear?

What looks better in your opinion?

I think that the painted bases looks much better than the unpainted ones, just make sure to leave the rod clear.

I like how the bases look when painted and modeled according to the rest of the army.
Just keep in mind that those stupid things break really easy(clear rods) so be sure you don't glue them in/down, so not if but WHEN they snap you can just replace it.

    Great advice Yak, Thanks.

I was going to glue those bases on but your comment just made me change my mind. However, destroyers are a pain to move around on the battlefield without the bases glued on, because they often fall out. How would you recommend I deal with this issue?

Destroyers... I just don't use clear bases on destroyers. But, I know what you are talking about. Just be careful about moving them by holding the base instead of the mini?

I don't use any base at all. Just like assault marines don't have to be in the air to represent their flying goodness, you don't need to have them floating.

I have seen people affix them using metal rods/wire to normal (termie size) bases though.

I always thought you had to use them in regulation games because measurements are always measured with respect to the base.

True, though I don't compete with them, so It hasn't come up. Necrons are my "fun" army.

If I had to come up with a solution, you could pin it down.
Drill a pin into the destroyer so the pin is sticking out and glue it to JUST the destroyer.
Then drill a hole in the clear base deep enough for the pin to fit.
You would now have a second level of stability in the base, and you can still take it off easily.

Hmm, you could try using stickytac to fill in most of the hole on the model so that it sits comfortably on the stand.

I don't actually own any models on the flying base (no Gargoyles or LS's in my armies), but my friends have them and I must say that they look MUCH better with the base painted. So long as the stand remains clear it looks very good, and it's an easy way to make your flyers stand out.
