Black Library has many titles, I assume for most of the imaginable armies out there. If the authors stay close to the official fluff, those titles can be seen as an “introduction” or “extension” of the info contained in the codex. So here comes my plea: Let’s compile a list of one or two titles that are Essential Reading for anyone playing particular army. Let me start with the easy one, since my original army has only one book available as far as I know:
Sisters of Battle – “Faith and Fire”, out in 2006, by James Swallow - so-so novel but gives a nice view into the Sisterhood's role and innerworkings...

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LOOK AT MY BLOG!
Rep people if they help you!!!
Tau players may want to read firewarrior.
Turtles For the Turtle God!
Shells For the Shell Throne!
Storm of Iron - Its kinda obvious isn't it?
Iron Hands. Author is John Green - Duh.
The Psychotic, Soda Addicted, Level-Headed Christian Friendly, Sexy Japanese Girl of LO
Necron players should read Xenology. It will change your view on the 'unthinking automatons'.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
Hmmm... nothing more for Necrons?
The second Dawn of War (Ascension), as well as the first Grey Knights novel have supporting roles by the Witch Hunters that are helpful, but not as detailed as Faith and Fire.
The Last Chancers Novel: Kill Team by Gav Thorpe is actually good for Tau, especially to see how they deal with renegades...
In general, I like the Last Chancers novles because they are like 40k universe road shows. You get to see Tyranids, Tau, Heretics, The Inquisition, etc, all from a grunt's perspective.
RecklessFable's Journey to Mediocrity (Painting an IG army)
I've been addicted to World of Tanks lately and neglecting my IG... But it is so... much... fun!
Soul Drinker/The Bleeding Chalice/Crimson Tears/Chapter War: by Ben Counter. Centres completely around the Soul Drinkers Space Marine Chapter. Good escapist stuff IMHO.
"Tau Commandment #226: Participants who use Velocity Trackers in the Tau Clay Pigeon Tournament will be disqualified"
