By now I'm sure most of you have read that GW is changing their mail order services. Over the next year they're phasing things in and out and complication that I'd rather not get into, but you can go to the GW news frontpage to read about it. Recently they just released a HUGE excel file containing all of the parts they'll be selling until they're gone. My question is this: does this mean we are getting new models for all these phase outs (because some of them are fairly new) or are they just going to stop selling the bitz for them and only sell whole models? anyone heard anything?
Well, I guess everyone ignores this thread (or I am ignoring a thread that's pretty much the same)
Anyway; I had a chat at my local GW store about this. It pretty much comes down to this; the bits are going to be sold or "destroyed". This doesn't mean the bits won't be available anymore; GW will check out which bits are sold often and which ones will be sold rarely. Suffice to say that bits like the plastic dragon wings (ordered and used a lot on winged Daemon prince conversions) won't be gone but something like uuuuuuhm... say several Chaos marine shoulderpads will be as they're not selling that well.
So GW will be in the process of re-organizing stock and yeah, some stuff will be lost in the process. But I don't think anybody should worry that bits won't be available and we should buy entire $50 boxes for a pair of wings or anything.
So see this announcement as a clearance sale (without anything getting cheaper)
But that's what I heard at my local GW.
I guess I still don't really understand, does this mean that say, I have to get my metal WH exorcist tank by Nov. 5th or else I won't be able to find it anymore? (ebay, etc excluded)
I received this reply from GW customer service...
It only means that the ‘bitz’ for these models will be gone. They will still be sold in their packaged form.
