Anyone heard anything about GW's intention to stop over-charging in Canada? (the staff over here are just claiming that US are under-price and will start increasing their prices, but I think that's a load of #$@%).
Is it just me or are other canadian players of GW products fed up with the price difference in the US vs Canada. With the parity of the dollar now it's rediculous that we have to pay 40% more for the same thing.
(If you are in the US and read this, and you have some floating cash laying around here's a great opportunity for you to make some money by buying in the states and selling product to Canadian (over E-bay or other mechanism you might prefer) (just make sure you ship with USPS, not UPS, the administration fee that USPS charge for clearing custom is legalized roberry)).
I hear you brother. I refuse to buy items from their stores. I only buy stuff I need right away from my local hobby store, like paints, codex when it first came out, whatever. For everything else, I order online from great canadian miniatures. It's 30% off, so after shipping and tax, it's still signficantly cheaper than the store. Only downside is that it takes 2 to 3 weeks to deliver, but that's not too bad. I've used them once already, and I'm currently waiting for my second shipment. It's cool because you don't have to deal with customs and all that BS. I think they buy it from the US and ship it up, it's a store based in Victoria I think. I hope this helps.
Oh Canadia, always trying to be like America, even with your prices.
Well, maybe the problem isn't that the Canadian prices don't match the American prices... Maybe the problem is that American prices should match Canadian Prices. It looks like the Canadian dollar is becoming even less valued, than it was. That's not the case. The American dollar is actually falling now, and technically our prices should be going up here in the states. So, I would suggest you stop complaining, before the price of American GW goods goes up. But I have heard rummors of a price cut across the board for all countries, so don't get your panties in a knot.

Pssst.... give me kudos....
Yeah, I've been wondering about this too. Although I don't see any reason we can't just buy from the US store. The only problem that could come out of it is that it might take a little longer to ship. Oh well.
Please don't post petty crap like that again.
I advise people to remember the forum rules, we don't want this to become something nasty
a tact squad came out as $50+ dollars when I tryed buying stuff from there, so it's bot really good
might as well buy from GW like a good boy, or ebay! I'm trying to get a daemon prince on ebay, stupid people, painting them already, with all there fancy "layering" and whatnot, then selling them for $100 dollars because they can paint better then other people and it's not even in the right colour 90% of the time *goes to get brake fluid*
Create flames for a galaxy and it will be warm. Put a galaxy in flames and it will be warm for the rest of it's existence.
I purchased over 90% of my 3000+ Dark Eldar, 3000+ Tyranid and 1000+ SM armies on E-bay. The only things I purchased in store were a few harder to find (on E-bay) miniatures at a local store that had a 25% discount since they were going from Elite to Troop status (the owner basically was telling me that sales were dropping because most people were buying on E-bay now) and a few carrying cases.
The store owner was complaining to GW about the price difference but they didn't seem to care. If they don't care about the opinion of their independent sellers, shows you how much they'll listen to a gamer. I guess if their sales drop enough up here they might start listening to the bottom line and adjust their price accordingly.
The store owner actually told me that GW was conscidering a price drop in the states to get an increase in sales and a price increase in Canada (I hope he was mis-informed and that GW are not that stupid. Or that Canadian player are not that stupid to keep buying stuff up here if they do go that way).
erm, not to rain on your parade maple-lovers, but we here in Australia too feel it's a little unfair with exchange rates, but you have to remeber, GW prices were set a couple of years ago now, and since then, the US dollar has been quickly falling away due to there poor economy, and has meant that outside (CAN or Aus) currencies have higher value when purchasing things within the US.
it does feel like we're being hard done by and that the US people are getting things cheaper, but their have actually been paying the same price all along, and it's now become even more expensive for them to buy from overseas eg forgeworld. so in reality, we should all be counting ourselves lucky and buy things from the US store, it's still cheaper after shipping AND WE CAN ORDER BITZ!!!
thats a sore point for me, Aus GW that stopped selling bitz, specialist games and even some 40K/fantasy items. grr.
