Just think, the Emperor has been sat on his ass literally for centuries, what does he do for fun? personally I wouldn't want to be stuck to a chair all my life.
Secondly, when the Emperor eventually dies-maybe through suicide due to boredom, an assasination or if he runs out of psykers, how do you think the Imperium will be run and by whom, will the Imperium fall apart on that fatal day?
For all we know he is already dead. The High lords of Terra may be keeping it quiet. If he died, there would be no way for the billions of people around the galaxy to actually find out. The Galaxy is run by the High Lords already, if the emperor died and they kept quiet about it, (Am i right in saying that the High Lords the only mortals allowed enter the Throne Room?) no one would be the wiser.
I think the Astropaths, psychers and librarians would know. The whole binding ritual and all that power flowing threw them and all that.
Personally I think keeping his corps of a body alive is preventing him from fully dieing and finishing a prophecy of the "star child" and being re-born or something along those lines. Any thoughts on that?
Ohh yea i didn't think about those boys. If a psyker of the power of the Emperor died would he create a huge hole in the warp, something like the EOT.
It would be a sweet parody, the EOT opening because of the birth of one God and a second opening because of the death of another.
at this point the Empoere probably WANTS to die..it's like that Mettalica song "One"..just a vegetable bolted to a big chair and forced to channel the universe's largest flashlight through his head..
Ooh, so close. The Emperor is dead, but the link that holds his body to his soul is so strong, his soul hasn't decended into the warp yet. When it does, he will immediatly be killed by the Chaos gods unless he gets very powerful very soon. Of course, all that would never happen, because it would lead all these plot twists into the finale of the fluff universe, and all of GW's business after that would be crushed, with all of the races almost dead. Woo-hoo.Originally posted by chemicalcaveman@Mar 22 2004, 11:12

Henceforth no man shall set foot upon the world, and all around shall be set sentinals to ward away unwary spacecraft. We must accept that this place is lost to us forever, and is now the eternal habitation of abomination.

When the Emperor dies, Chaos wins. I mean, they'd have to. They'd have no warcry left.

I bet the emperor and horus are still alive, I can just see the scene that Rogal Dorn saw when he found the two of them on the bridge of Horus's flag ship, playing against each other in a multiplayer game of Warcraft III on two navitgation computer serviters with keyboards hooked up to them.
DORN: My Lord Emperor, what is the meaning of this? I thought you were about to kill Horus, ascend to godhood, and watch over the people of the emperium? What are you doing?
EMPEROR: huh, what? hold on..... *****! ... HAHA! got your Preistes of the Moon Horus!!
HORUS: damn, but what are you going to do about my warden?
DORN: but... what is this?
EMPEROR: its the Internet! its the coolest *****, during our psyking battle, we picked up a few wireless signals for this thing, and BAMB! were hooked! hey, look. Im going to be buisy for a little bit, I just got my Mountain king to level 6, Avatar rocks soooo much! Oh, and do you have ANY idea how much porn there is on here?
DORN: why don't you lead your empire?
EMPEROR: can I do it after this game? oh wait, I just won, that doesn't count. After the NEXT game?
DORN: I don't think so.
EMPEROR: well, just tell them Horus and I died or something, it'll be cool. I have planns for getting the internet spread accross the entire empire.

The Emperor has supposedly been on the brink for 10,000 years.
The WH40k fluff universe has been barely coherent for about 15 RL years. I read once, that they equate each RL year to like a decade or century in the game. Forget which. There was an OLD article about it circa 2nd edition. Which is why the current timeline is somewhere into the late 41st-42nd millenium, tho it began in the 40th.
Wouldn't it be a bit premature to have the cataclysm suddenly happen? IMO, the whole endtime Emperor's death aspect where he may or may not be gloriously reborn with the souls of the sensii, starchild or whatever, is like reading the Bible and expecting revelations to happen any day now, with people claiming it will end soon for the last 2000 years.
So I highly doubt it is a business decision holding up the natural course of fluff. lol.
