Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was wondering if I could get some feedback from the general community.
I seem to go through roughly 6-month cycles of feverish 40K buying building and playing frenzy(ok, more playing and buying than actually building and painting, my workbench is a testament to that) then I hit a complete lull on any interest with 40k. This leads me to
play other things like Magic the gathering(competatively), and now I'm in Hordes, and Flames of war because the very thought of playing 40K is rather unappealing.
I was wondering, you regulars, vets and long term players, do you experience a cycle of interest like this, or are you able to maintain an even keel on the hobby?
If so, then how do you do it?

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
I wouldn't call myself a long term player after 7 or 8 months in the hobby but sometimes during the footy season I just feel that I'm wasting my money/time with the hobby. And other times i totally love it (ATM). I didnt buy anything for about 6 months and just recently i bought a wave serpent dire avengers and a windrider host in 2 months.

In my 3 years of playing i have never lost intrest in 40k. I have always bought built and painted when i could. Though i do understand what is going on. One of my friends does this shows up for like 2 months then is gone for 8 then comes back.
