I was just thinking of maybe starting a gaming club at some point in the future(could be soon or very far in the future when flying cars exist). could anyone give me any tips to set me in the right direction(it will be handy when the time comes.)

Well I would consider having a solid place to meet which would be large enough to allow people to play. Also put out advertising in key places where you might think people who play Warhammer would likely see it. Perhaps you could build terrain to have a steady supply for your games by having club members build them. Mainly I would advise you to put out feelers to see how many people you would likely get to join.

My main advice in starting a Warhammer club, or any similar club, is to have the necessary gear available. People are much more inclined to participate in something if the things they need (sans army) are there in one place for them to use. For Warhammer, I would suggest having tables and basic terrain around, as well as any extra measuring units and templates (well marked of course so they don't walk off) that you can scrounge together.
Another idea is to kick off your club with a bang. Create a league or tournament that gets together regularly, perhaps charging a very nominal fee that could add up to purchase a small prize for the winner. Give people a reason above and beyond just playing to show up.
On that note, keep regular play hours. Time your club to meet on a certain day during certain hours, and keep to it! Don't skimp around and cancel some weeks just because you don't feel like it. If you're regular with the play schedule, people will trust the schedule and show up. If you don't, they'll get burned once or perhaps twice by the club taking a day off, and stop showing up. It helps in this case to have an assistant or two to run things when you absolutely can't be there.
Anyway, hope these help.
I second that suggestion on regular play times. I almost religiously go to the shop to play on weekends and when people realized there's a player ready to go every weekend, more and more people keep turning up. We're also in the process of making it a proper club, maybe in a month or so when we figure out what we want to do.
My tip (I will soon become the 'leader' of our gaming club) would be to collect a 'core' group of dedicated and solid gamers who have an army/ies and who can form the foundation of the group. New people should have others to look up to when they have questions.
Get a good space where you cna fit in a couple of 6x4 tables and some shelves and such to store terrain and othr bits.
If you have a gaming store that you know a lot of your gaming buds/core gamers go to, try to talk to the manager to put up a poster advertising your group (I dunno if GW does such things, I have no gaming store in my town).
Of all these I consider nr.1 to be most important. Without a dedicated core group in which all are friends and are comfortable with then it will be very hard to make the group go round.
And, I don't know if you have such things in New York/USA, get in contact with organisations supporting hobbies and other spare-time activities. They might be able to hook you up with a place to game or something.
Post advertisements in existing gaming clubs. You should be regular with your hours, and give the club something other clubs don't have such as convenience or better facilites, or being cleaner, etc.
