I keep changing my mind about which army I want to play, and it's ruining my life.
First, I managed to stick with a World Eaters force, built it up a nice amount, and then sold it on eBay and bought Guard! Now I've only got about 1000pts of Guard and I haven't even finished painting them and I feel the urge to get rid of them and start an Ork force! Waaahhh!!
What should i do?!
Takka n' Wakka's Dakka Attacka! 33W / 6L / 1D
Why dont you keep the guard and start an Ork army... looking at the different armies that you have collected they have different styles of Play... personally I have about 5 different armies and I change the one which I use because I feel like playing a different style...
Its normally for other armies to appeal to you because they are all pretty different so at times you will find some armies will appeal some days while others another army might look nice...
Just collect what you want so to speak and keep the armies that you already have. You'll find eventually you'll want to play them again.
okay- you're not crazy, you're not going to die, you do not need to report to GW anonymous. You're just seeing different play styles and models. We all have it happen. Fortunately, some of us have the money to play multiple armies. Unfortunately, few of us have money to keep up with our own lust for virgin gray plastic.
I would suggest staying the course to finish whatever army you own before you move onto another army. I always make sure that I have a force capable of playing competitively enough for the weekly gaming night, before I head after another force.
However, if you are going to play another army, it is going to cost you money. So even if you choose to keep the army you have, and especially if you sell it: make sure you have the right info. Understand WHY you don't want the army. My friend went through three armies just because he never won with them. I and a few others bought the armies off of him and proceeded to make very competent lists out of them. He sometimes regrets selling an army before tweaking and testing to get it's full potential.
My suggestion is to look through the army books for the new army, maybe play a few test games with either proxies, or someone else's models. Of course, you can/should always get on to the respective LO board and ask around or just lurk to hear the common pro's and con's of each army.
I know that feeling Misanthrope.
I started with the idea of going for Sisters of Battle, moved on to Grey Knights, then to regular Marines, then Blood Angels, then Chaos, and now I have finally settled on Eldar.
Yeah, I bounced all over the place before settling.
I even got to the point where I built up 750pts of BA, only to very suddenly lose interest in them. Not selling them though, I know someday I'll want to mess with them more.
All opinions above are just that, opinions; you are free to agree or disagree as you like. Recognize too that your own opinions are just that, opinions, and will be agreed with or disagreed with at the leisure of the above poster.
This happened to me last year when i was without a job kept changing armies every month or week, But i managed to stick my empire for 5 years which i thought was werid and Since i now have a job i have 5 armies now o_0 so i dont change anymore at all, I just buy a new force i like .
Anyways we should send you to a doctor and You should collect each force at 1000pts then you cant sell and buy a new army I am sure it was pass over time.
I know this may sound bad but perhaps you should stop playing warhammer for a little while? mayby a few weeks, I must say that help me in the end but its just a idea.
I know this may be rough, but try not selling the old armies. Your problem isn't purchasing the new stuff, it's getting rid of the old. That's the part that you fear you may regret, I would think. Look at it this way, if you never go back to your old armies, you at least have a fantastic conversion sources in breaking up old models for parts (like human heads for your Orks!)
Tekore has hit the nail on the head, dont sell your old armies. You'll regret it.
What i did was buy a box of the basic troop for the army you want to play, i wanted to start deathwing and GK so i bought a box of termies and GK to test out how they were to paint etc. In the end it really helped.

As others have said, fret not, this is natural...althoguh id agree, dont sell off the other stuff unless you really need to, youll probably come back to that army at some point.
Ask anyone who has been around the hobby for a while and most of us have tons of different armies of various sizes and in various stages of completion- i just did a quick mental check and i think i have around 10 different armies across WHFB and 40k- not to mention two warmaster forces (still in blisters!) and a couple of Epic armies

I can relate to this. So many lovely models, so many nasty unit combinations, so many great backstories.
Oh, how I envy my friends who are able to pick an army and never think twice about their choice.
I decided to bite the bullet and stick with Necrons for 40k and BFG. As much as I like the Eldar and the Blood Angels I used to play, I sold those armies and BFG fleets for the sake of simplicity.
Some would say 'keep everything'. I would actually be inclined to say, "sell everything". It will cause a little distress early on, but the sake of simplicity will eventually create comfort.
I currently do not have a Fantasy army and I am being very careful about which army I pick to be my Fantasy army. I don't know what I want quite yet, just what I don't want. It'll drive a person mad, but once the right choice is made, there is confidence.
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
I have the same problem. I call it hobby ADD. I can never seem to even come close to finishing an army before I have something else call to me.
Which is pretty much the most expensive thing that I've ever experienced.
the only advice I can give is to limit the points values that you want to build to and build to that(low in this case) and hold on to the armies.
Its also possible that you're enamored by a concept of the armies but once you play them their "playsyle" isn't exactly what you want, so you keep looking.
Consider just building and building, keep all of your factions so you can switch it up instead of seling it off.
