Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was browsing around LO, and I saw a thread in the tau forum put up by Sajiisde about remembering the first games we ever played.
I remember my very first game very vividly, I didn't even have an army of my own when I played it. My best friend was teaching me how to play after I had asked him to show me what he had always meant about there being an actual game to the computer game chaos gate. We both used his nids, no force organisation, nothing fancy, and no true points (Though I do believe that if the points were done it would have been a 250-300pt game.) I lost, but it wound down to my friend having no more than two or three models left in the end. I can never forget my first game, especially not when I see nids or any mention of the game chaos gate.
But what about you other members here on LO? How many of you remember your very first game in the hobby, whether it be in 40k or fantasy, battlefeet gothic, epic, inquisitor, or warmachine?
Take my love, take my land, take me to where I cannot stand; I don't care I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.

My first game was with three other friends. My friend Brian had brought an army case with a few squads of each of his armies, and we played a quick free for all game with a single squad not limited by usual force organization. I ended up with a kasrkin squad with three plasma gunners ,two vet. sergeants, and a commissar; my friend Ben had a squad of kroot; my friend John had a squad of space marines with a chaplain; and Brian used a squad of his firewarriors. Those darn tau blasted the rest of us into oblivion before we could fight back(although I did butcher the kroot in close combat).

When beset by doubt,
Run in little circles,
Wave your arms and shout.

I remember my first game of warhammer with my first army. I have bought a box of skeletons and a necromancer for my vampire counts and I was playing against my friends dwarves. We both only had about 2 or 3 hundred points and in a game that small we both realized how powerful raising can be.
My fisrt game was a 1000 pt game. My brother and I just bought the old empire/orc starter box, and I picked up an additional box of goblins, night goblins, and wolf riders. We were playing against our buddy who had chaos undivided, and he and I rolled to play against each other first. Neither of us had ever played before and we both did as good as we could. Chaos won the day, but it was a great game all together. Now 9 years later. I got 10,000 pts in night goblins alone, and a whole slew of other armies in both fantasyy and 40k. My chaos buddy and I still play at least once every 2 weeks, but these days its mostly 40k. Ah the memories.
I remember my fist game - it was the starter set out of 5th ed fantasy - lizardmen vs bretonnians, can't remember what the points where (that long since I even looked at those models) but I do remember I played as the knightly brets and I won!

The guy who was store manager on south street in Philly, I think Trent Nighman was his name? He went to corporate when they shut down the store and wrote for white dwarf for a while. Anyway, he taught me and my buddy how to play 1st ed 40K. I had Tyrands with Ork and Human mind slaves (individual tyranid warriors were sentient free thinking creatures that enslaved other races back then! yikes! Anybody seen my Zoat?) Against marines. Stupid land speeder popup attack killed half my genestealers with a multimelta... mmmm, multimeltas with blast templates... The remaining genestealers did kill off the marines eventually! Of course close combat being what it was in 1st ed it took like 45 minutes of rolling to kill a marine.. =)
My first game was with a mate of mine who had also bought the macragge box set back in 04.
I had an assault marine, a force commander, a marine with a flamer and 2 marines with bolters. He had about 10 genestealers. We played a crazy sort of little game where we started about 18 inches away from each other and then let each other have it...
Great fun though!
My first real game was a 4-way battle at around 1500pts each (6000 in total.) it was the worst game that I have ever played. We didn't really know the rules and it took about 5 hours to play 3 turns. It ended up with a giant HQ battle in the end consisting of a bloodthirster, a hive tyrant, two chaos lords, and carnifex and a keeper of secrets. Ahhh, good times.
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
Ah my first game. Well it was about 7-8 years ago (i was 10ish at the time:p) and myself and a few mates were at one of my friends houses for his birthday. his dad, being a massive wargaming nut, took us all to GW for a look. When we got there a group of 20 something year olds were playing WHFB, one unit each, about 5 different armies. Sort of a free for all. Anyway, while we were looking around, 2 of the guys left, so 3 (yes, 3) of my mates asked if they could use the Brettonian bowmen. Of course, being a nervous little 10 year old I sat back and watched for a turn. So one of the store guys, in front of everyone asks me if I wanted to play. I declined, but everyone started doing the whole "ohh, come on kid!" thing so I gave in. "These troops are yours" he says, pointing to 3 undead-looking spellcaster things. I don't know what they were, but they were in close combat with a full unit of Brettonian questing Knights... controlled by a 25 year old. Anyway, I don't remember exactly what happened but basically my mates spent 4 turns shooting at a dragon across the board (uber Brett range??) and I just rolled dice as the guy gave them to me. There was lots of yelling when the Brettonian Knights did something really special, thinking back it was probably rallying 'cause I killed 3 of them. Anyway, my 3 little guys got wiped out pretty quick, but I had fun. I think.
Then we played "one wound" as the guy called it, we all got a one wound model each and had a ffa. My skeleton horseman guy killed my mates 14-year-old-warhammer-fanatic brother's undead priest thing and I died to something with a bow, I think.

My first game was against a friend of mine about 4 years ago. We'd each been collecting for a fair while before that but typically we'd bought a lot of models before a rulebook so we'd both never played. 1250 points I think of his tau vs my eldar.
Yes, I fell in love with holo-field falcons on my very first game . His damn submunition blast took out all my eldar on foot and rapid-firing fire warriors took out my scorpions. My falcon (my only vehicle) gave me some semblance of being in the game but in short he wiped the board with me. We weren't playing with much terrain (just what we could improvise/proxy) and so he had a definate advantage being the shooty army while my fragile aspect warriors charged up the board.

Well, my first game was a WHFB game in the year 2000. It was a 2 vs 2 game, each player with 2000 points (I was lucky to get a nice deal due to a friend starting dwarves and wanting to get rid of his empire), although i don't remember what army my partner had and one of our opponents was high elf.
All in all we lost the battle, but my elector count was cutting nicely through some dragon princes (thanks to runefang and having really luck on the 4+ to hit )
40k started some time later (maybe a year or so) first battle with Space Orks against IG. I fielded what the old battle force and an extra box of boyz could provide, whereas my opponent had a Leman Russ and loads of heavy bolters (and not much terrain to boot)
Needless to say that I lost by several magnitudes, still I got addicted to the fungi from space 8X (as my name might indicate 0: )
It ain't easy bein' green... :-)
