Welcome to Librarium Online!
In juin me and some friends are going to play a 8000 point battle but how big has the
board need to be?
(wood Elves, lizardmen and High elves against Orcs and goblins, Skaven, Tomb Kings and Dark Elves)
At games days in the past they have held events like this. From what I read it was basically one side of a long row of tables against the other side. For 2000 you need a 4x6. Since you are going to be playing the same number of turns (I assume) you would want the width to be the same. So that leaves the length to be increased.
It stands to reason that since you are increasing the point size by a factor of 4 you could just increase the length by four as well. 24 feet seems a bit huge though. I would double the length out to 16' and go from there. Something to try before the game would be to get all of one sides forces together and roughly set them up on the floor just to see what the footprint would be.

Thanks , but the number of turns shoudn't they be increased as well?
If your game will be 4x 2000pt lists, just use two 4x6 boards.
Set them up to be 4x12 or 6x8 as you and your friends prefer.
FWIW, Apocalypse has some guidelines for 40k megabattles -
2x 3kpt = 4x8ft
2x 5kpt = 6x8ft
2x 10kpt = 12x8ft (ie, 2* 6x8s)
2x 20kpt = 24x8ft (4* 6x8s)
Those ought to serve as fair FB table guidelines, also.
Id suggest at least 12 foot by 4 foot- you dont really want to increase the width or youll spend half the game trudging towards each other, but the length of the board should be be longer or your going to have trouble fitting the armies on- the skaven O & G side may have trouble as it is!
