I'm just curious how many of us out there collect army books and codex's for forces that we done even play. I myself play Space Marines, Eldar, Chaos Space Marines, Vampire Counts, Tomb Kings and Dark Elves. In addition I also have the Black Templars and the High Elves book (for now) and I plan on picking up each new book as it comes out. Anyone else keep up like I am?
I do. I buy an army book for any army that interests me, even if I don't currently or plan on collecting the army.
Sometimes it's also good to buy it so you know the other armies and what you're up against.
Ive recently started doing this, mainly because I like reading all the fluff stuff, and its nice to become familiar with armies you may play against at some point. Unfortunately it usually sees me getting carried away by writing lists etc. and buying minis for ANOTHER army im unlikely to complete

I collected most of the codecies and army books a while ago (back before the newer dwarf army book.) I keep up to date with the 40k codecies, but not so much with fantasy since I really only bother with ogre kingdoms and hordes of chaos. (I have every 40k codex other than apocalypse.)

Back in 3rd Edition I had every codex except Space Marines and Orks, I didn't bother picking up the Inquisition ones either. the 3rd Edition SM codex was pretty much in the rule book save for the wargear section. So points wise, I had all the values in my head anyway..
for fourth, I have been a lot lazier, I don't have time or money to spend o them.
I only buy codex for armies I actually have (and DA cos I wanted to see where marines were going) plus I spoiled myself with Apocalypse too.
Arch Overfiend & Grand Despot
I currently play:
Doom Eagle Space Marines
Hive Fleet Omega Tyranids
Goff Ork Boyz(dead)
Tau of O'me
Inquisitorial Xeno Hunters
and my attempted foray into fantasy
'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
It's not that I actively collects them, they just happend to come to me
I buy almost all my stuff second hand and occasionally there's a deal that's just to hard to resist (despite the fact I don't play the army) and it also contains a Codex or Armybook.
So I do have a few.
But as they are quite cheap when you compare what they contain to White Dwarf, I think it's far better to buy a Codex every second month than to buy a WD every month.
Though I must say something about them old Codices, they are often really nice to read, plenty of fluff and juicy characters. They are also deadcheap on eBay and other such sites. I warmly recommend people to get them just for them being "good litterature"...
FluffMaster on a mission to turn people to the Sisters of battle, yes folks it's all about SoB squads in Repressors with lots of flamer templates for the win.
I do !
Even 2nd, 3rd Ed stuff. I have the now old High Elf book, that I saw in a car boot sale for a quid, and I have no dreams of ever playing them...
If I see it, and can afford it, and its to do with Warhammer or Warhammer 40k, I'll buy it I don't have everything mind. But I wouldn't mind it.

Old books really are the best, I've been meaning to get the old codexes for a while now. I've got all the old fantasy army books.
Up, up and away!
