As all of you will know by now Games Workshop have stop selling both individual components as well as its classics range. Although they plan to bring back the models on demand I have my doubts that Iíll be able to count on GW to bring back the bits needed to complete my Necron army which I began building at the very beginning of this year.
Here are the four different types of converted Necron units for my army going from left to right: Lord, Immortal, Warrior and Destroyer. Now a friend of mine knows someone who Ďbelievesí they can resin cast me the components are need to complete the army such as the tomb Spyder head, immortal body and even the classic space marine jump back. All of which GW will likely not sell separately or anytime soon. Now Iíd like some opinions about this?
My mate tells me its okay, itís GW fault for not providing me with enough notice and if the details are good enough not many people will notice anyway.
Problem is most of my armies will likely end up in tournaments like the GT and Iím worried that if someone like the judges notice the difference in weight Iíll be in trouble. To cast and bring this unique army to the board!
-- Or --
Not to cast as its too risky and abandon it entirely!
That is the question Iíll like you guys to help me answer?

I vote Cast It!
I understand your concern, but mull these points over.
In a tournament, only the majority of th model must be GW. That means th rest can be whatever you want...bits from other ranges, toys, greenstuff, etc.
It is perfectly legal and approved for you to cast parts from GW models as long as you use them privately and dont sell them.
Beautiful work by the way.
Staunch supporter of rigid Moderation.
I had a conversation with my dad about casting things such as wraithguard. We decided the wraithguard models were so sympol it wouldn't take that much effort. We never got round to it though!
I say, cast it!
Well... I'm not really sure, so I'll just skip the voting part.
I don't think you'r really allowed to copy copyrighted material, even if it's for personal use only, it sounds a bit fishy to me...but I do remember an example of it, a small "how to copy purityseals using a GS-mold"-guide being printed in White Dwarf a while back...
It's a dilemma I am happy not to have. It would be pretty sad to be thrown out of a tounarment on a counterfeit-basis when you've only made your army, nevermind how understandable your cause would be.
But have you tried the trading sites?
I know Barter town can be a great place, and you could always have a bits-request post here too, I guess modelling forum or even your sig would be a good place.
If nothing else works I think ebAy can be quite rewarding if you only show some patience.
Whatever you decide to do, I hope it goes really well and I'd love to see this army completed.
You could even try to write/phone/nag-like-crazy to/on GW and try to get a deal with them directly, offer them to put it on their site or the WD or whatever. Make sure they get to see your earlier armies, they are fantastic examples of the creativity that comes with the hobby.
I'd try to address my inquiery to someone who you know to be an avid converter, like Christian Burnes or even Guy Haley (spelling might be critical on those names though...).
Why not try the "How to get your stuff featured in WD"-thingie that use to be in the beginning of each issue...
I say cast it. And that destroyer looks just like a command n conquer tank either nod or scrin.
IRON CHEF SCENEY II
I'd feel a little better if I had more of an understanding of what GW had planned, people keep telling me that bits are going to be brought back in a year or so, but i've been told by GW employes that they will be sold in customization packs or complete collector's miniatures.
The Immortal may still be possiable 'legally' if they bring back both the classic Immortal and Jumpback? But I'll certainly be casting my tomb spyder heads (I need 19 of them after all and I don't want to have to pay £190 for them)
DO IT MAN!!!! go for it mate, some very good work there, it would be sad if you couldent finish such a decent project.
very terminator esqe!
PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.

Remember, you know nothing about it being cast, you got the bits off ebay, and decided to use them.
