What the frick did they do to their site?!?! It's aweful! And where the heck is the Online Store.
Any one else see this?
P.S. I had no clue they were changing the site, so was very taken by the new look. I will try and remain a bit open, bus as it stands, I just don't like it - IMO

I see... a new intro page, from which you redirect to the countries site of your choice. Looks cool
And the US site.. hmm, maybe its just a WiP thing. I hope so, otherwise that just looks horrible compared to what it was.
I assume its the US GW site your talking about?
Theres a button at the top that says 'Shop All' That looks like its some sort of online store. Its got prices and what not.
Sorry, I am talking about the US site. The intro page is very neat, but the rest is just aweful. As it stands, I'm finding it very difficult to navigate. I really don't like how they have the purchasing of models set up. It's also moving like a slug!
Aye I noticed that too. The whole thing seems to look a lot cleaner I guess, but It does seem to move quite slugglish.
Still, I guess we'll be able to get used it it.
Aye, I guess we will just have to get use to it. I liked the look and feel of the old site though. It had a lot more neat artwork and the like. It seemed to represent Warhammer much better IMO.
The drop down menus don't seem well thought out either.
I don't know, I just don't like it hehe.
I have to be honest, I like this one a lot better. The old one being flash-based always rubbed me the wrong way. This design is much more modern and a lot cleaner. The old site may have had a good splash page, but the internal pages were messy, often broken, and out-dated. This site, no doubt, uses a more sophisticated central CMS to alleviate some of the old site's problems.
The store itself has been integrated with the rest of the site. So now if I'm looking at the Wood Elves section, the articles and links to order the minis are all right in front of me - there's no separate store entity to mess around with anymore. They've also made their account management more sophisticated.
All in all, I'd say it's a long-overdue update.
Wasn't it the same site that Black Gobbo was on? Or at least the same sort of layout?
I liked the old US GW site, or rather, I like it more than this new one anyway. While this one seems cleaner, the old one seemed... well, to know what it was on about really. (I know thats odd as a website isn't alive.) What I mean was, I felt I could find the info I wanted with the old one.
this new one just seems... too clean lol.
I've got mixed feelings on this whole thing.
First, the organization, like people have already said, will take some getting used to. Besides the change in layout, it seems like they've stripped out most of the hobby articles; I used to live for that stuff! I'm hoping that more of the conversion articles and such come back.
Also, some people said they have a hard time getting to the Online Store... overall, it looks like the whole thing is the Online Store now. The Armies sections go straight to miniatures listings, with the "Add to Cart" buttons right there. All this worries me, because it looks like a change of focus from being a hobby website to being a sales website; I don't want to think that's the focus of GW as well.
Some of the content, though, does have me interested. The "Conversion Packs" look nice; you can piece together a Hammerhead by ordering the turret sprue separately, and they now offer (finally) a 4-pack of Shield Drones! There are a few other useful-looking bitz, too; it's enough to keep me interested.
So yes, it looks really different, but I don't think it's a bad thing (yet).
On another note, they still have the Blood Angels Codex on the new site, so at least my list hasn't been invalidated (yet)...
I build, I convert, I sometimes paint, and once in a while, if I'm really lucky, I might even play.
My god... the thing is loading like I'm on a dial up connection...
Edit: I'm liking what I see when it finally loads, but... still... oh, connection got reset. Well, I'll just blame it on teething problems before I make some O NOEZ WTF statements. :p
