Thought it would be kinda interesting to get some thoughts on the changes in 5th ed using the following format-
The Good- Brief statement about a rule or rules you think will be a good change
The Bad- Brief statement about a rule or rules you think will hurt gameplay
The Ugly- Brief statement about any rule or rules you are generally undecided about, but think it's interesting or will have a high impact
I'll kick things off:
The Good- I'm liking the new vehicle damage charts and transport rules. Many vehicles easily get taken out first turn and transports are virtual coffins that not only damage infantry, but also cripple them for a turn.
The Bad- I have yet to meet anyone who will disagree that True LoS will slow down games while spawning endless arguements and creative modelling. I liked 4th ed's streamlined terrain rules and I really think this is a step back
The Ugly- I gotta admit the new combat resolution rules that uses the difference in wounds to determine your negative modifier (or the number of additional wounds you take for fearless units) is gonna have a high impact. It definitely appears to favor smaller more capable HTH units rather than a horde that's gonna eat high casualties to attrit your opponent to death. Whether it's going to be good or not, I can't say, but it'll definitely be interesting.
Blais's Paint Studio-Getting broken armies good soft scores since 2009
Good - generally a effort for a more stream lined game and bit of a balancing of the rules.
Bad - True LOS will be a bit of a pain, not really stream lined in my opinion
The Ugly - only troops count as scoring units, it's just kind of a strange concept to me, I can certainly see it being very unbalanced for some armies.
But in general I'm pretty happy with the changes.
The Good - Running, vehicle rules
The Bad - True LOS has potential to cause massive headaches
The Ugly - the only Troops scoring thing; it definitely puts more balance on things, less min/max armies out there which can only be a good thing, but it may hurt some armies. Also, from what I hear, Kill Points have potential to be damaging.
Mine are the same as mentioned from the others, but in a different place. and I'll explain why.
THE GOOD- The LOS rules. No more hashing out in th beginning of the game, what's what and what counts as what, and what cover save and this and that. simple 5th edition LOS rule. If he can see it, he can shoot it. As for the "creative modeling", 40k is a unit game, not a soldier game. Switch the "cool" model out for a regular one, then measure LOS.
THE BAD- Troops only are scoring units. This is going to severely change alot of rosters of those not only going to tourneys , but also those who play actual missions in frindly games. It is a step toward making the game follow it's original inception. THrowing massive ammounts of faceless troops who are numbers, not people at the enemy, who has more...wins.
THE UGLY- RUN. Not sure how this is going to affect those armys which excell at shooting and not CC< but the RUN RULE is something that I forsee becoming a staple gripe about on alot of non MEQ/CC army forums. We shall see how well it unbalances or balances the game.
All in all, I have more in the THE GOOD catagory than I did three months ago. I'm liking 5th more and more. (And for the record, I was one of the guys that said "i'm not griping/complaining until I see the actual rules in my hand,"... so i did not hop bandwagons )
Rome wasn't built in a day, Either should good scenery.
GOOD- I don't think the LoS rules will affect me, as our gaming group only ever used forests as area terrain, and everything else followed "true LOS". So now when a new player shows up, they won't think we're loony.
BAD- Shooting being able to cause casualties to models that are out of range, if even only one model is in range.
UGLY- CC, just because of how different it will be. It might not be so bad, its just the adjustment period will not be so fun...
But maybe it will all balance out. We'll see.

GOOD - The new vehicle damage charts, no more invisible ICs, ramming is hilarious.
BAD - Only troops count as scoring, Kill points, the move or shoot approach to vehicles.
UGLY - I am worried/miffed about true LOS, running, and the new wound allocation, everyone has "counter charge".
Good - vehicle damage chart, no partials on blast templates, deviation on blast templates, running
Bad - wound allocation, pillbox tanks, cover save for area terrain instead of blocking LOS
Ugly - troops only as scoring units, true LOS could cause a lot of stressful moments, Kill Points?
Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will let you know in a major way.
Not all the Emperors Children turned coat. We will redeem our name.
The Good: Vehicle damage charts, True LOS (used to it after playing FB, Necromunda, Warmachine etc.)
The Bad: Defensive weapons. And that only troops counts as scoring. Is a massive blow to my Eldar...
The Ugly: I'm undecided on the new vehicle rules, especialy those for skimmers. Running is "meh" I think but can work. We will see.
I can't say for sure until I play it as I'm pretty sure once I get into the swing of learning 5th, I won't care anymore. But still...
4+ cover save from trees? Err, okay.
Things with fleet, having the ability to move as a fast vehicle... o_O
4+ cover save from other units.
The missions. Kill points.
Only troops as scoring.
