Perhaps try defining what qualities should define "best" models? The WHFB and WH40k ranges have plenty of good-looking models, and it's hard to call any given one "the best" without ignoring the other ones. Lord Kroak (or however you spell it) is a nice model, as is the Shaggoth. Erm... my favourite though is the Dwarf lord with his helmet under his arm resting on his axe...for some reason i just think it epitomises Dwarfishness and is therefore ace.

I'm inclined to go Forgeworld here. I think their Fire Dragon is amazingly good. From the normal GW range...hmmm....possibly the Carnosaur.

As a range of models i would say wood elves, but for single model it has to be the high elf dragon
