Default 40K: Witch Hunters as Skitarii

I had an idea that I thought I'd share with the forum. I wouldn't do it myself because I already have a Guard army and an Ork army and some witch hunters, and that's more than enough, but someone else might think it's a cool idea.

Why not use the witch hunters list for a "counts as" AdMech Skitarii army?

People usually use doctrined guard for skitarii, but with witch hunters I reckon there's alot more scope for getting creative. You basically have storm troopers with 3+ saves and bolters, which I think fits well with the highly trained soldiers with bionics and tech theme.

You can use the acts of faith to represent experimental tech like combat drugs, force fields, etc, that have short durations. The Canoness and Palatine can be skitarii officers.

You have penitent engines and arco flaggellants (for crazy robots), exorcists for bizarre rocket launching tanks, inqusitors for magi with retinues. Death cults and Assassins as bio-engineered AdMech stealth operatives. I think it would work really well.

Just a thought...

That strikes me as a remarkably good idea. Though you might want to do a counts as for the bolters too.. give them all tonk hellguns, maybe? I just don't think you can really get away with equipping them all with bolters, fluff-wise. And the power-armour might be a bit of a stretch, too.. But, with some brilliantly converted models, I reckon it would work.

I think its a great idea, mainly because i've seen it done by a member of my gaming club although he doesn't use sisters of battle he uses allied marines.

Yeah, it is a pretty good idea, one that I toyed with for a while. A lot of scope for conversions!

In the end I went with a different style of skitarii, however (sortof the 'light infantry' version), and decided that IG was the choice for me.

Still, nothing is stopping me from allying some units from the witchhunters codex!

Also, you should google "garfield minus garfield". Awesome.
