What is the most commonly used 40k army out there?
Yep- GW markets towards the Marines. So it's SM first, usually codex, then DIY, then seperate dex's.
After that, it's pretty much a toss up, but the armies which have been featured in the box sets have a slight edge. Tyranids, and soon the Orks as well. The Dark Eldar from the prior edition are a fluke and are too difficult to play.
ultramrines, when I goto the local GW there is at least 1/3rd ultramarines then a couple more that are DIY chapters, not many single dex marines up where I am.
Sorry, but this topic gets asked all the time.
Please see the 40K armies section for lots of threads about this and the like.
