I've only read books involving marines mainly, and I can easily recommend; False Gods Horus Rising Fulgrim Flight of the Eisenstein Galaxy in Flames Legion Lord of the Night Soul Drinker Omnibus I can quietly recommend, for a bit of fun, not to good but fairly entertaining: Angels of Darkness Ultramarine Omnibus I would stay clear of: Blood Angels Omnibus Descent of Angels Blood Raven omnibus Legion is my favourite book so far, although there is a gnats whisker between all the heresy books up to now (apart from ...Angels, I haven't read ...Abyss yet, it's en route) I really like the Soul Drinkers story as well, the Ultramarines one just seems a bit 'meh'. I read the Blood Angels books omnibus in a couple of hours - once I started I had to finish it, but once I'd finished it I thought 'what a load of babba'. That is the single worst 40k related book I have read, and to say it's by the same guy who wrote Flight that is surprising.

The Ciaphas Cain series (one of the books features a necron tomb) Nightbringer (suprise) Ultramarines Omnibus Iron Snakes is a fantastic with a wonderful new Marines chapter that I think should get it's own codex. Soul Drinkers Omnibus. These are actually all the 40k books I've read and I've never been let down. Well...except for White Sky Black Sun...I didn't like that one. |

After reading Horus Rising I wanted to collect both an Interex and Megarachnid army!

Gaunt's Ghosts series Space Wolf series Eisenhorn series Ravenor series Last Chancers omnibus Horus Heresy series Ultramarines series Soul Drinkers series 15 Hours Rogue Trader Double Eagle Short Story Books: Crucible of War Dark Imperium Words of Blood Deathwing I own and have read all these books at least once....except for the Ghost series I've read that 3 or 4 times I can't remember anymore lol. IMO all of these books were a good read. I know you aren't suppose to judge a book by its cover....but that's how I do it when it comes to 40k and it seems to work. I think I've missed out on a couple of good ones but a lot of other ones I've heard weren't that great after I decided against reading them. |
