I'm going to fully magnetise my dread, and want the full arsenal available.
but dont want the vanilla loyalist parts.
are the forgeworld dread weapons compatible with the ordinary chaos dread?
are they the same scale at all?
anyone tried putting them on a standard dread?
Apparently, this was a very good question.
i guess i'll have to send them a mail and ask them directly.
i'll post the results.
The resin arms will fit on a GW plastic dread, no idea on the metal chaos dreadnought.
GW and FW dreads, and therefore Dread arms, are exactly the same scale. Totally interchangeable. I've got several myself, they work great. Just be cautious about the difference between Mark IV and V arms - the Mk.IV has curved armour sides to match the MK.IV Dread body... Still fits, just looks a bit funny.
If anything, the mounting peg on a metal Dread might be a bit too small/large for the FW mounting hole, but so long as you're willing to widen that hole or bulk up the peg, it's a non-issue. Especially when Magnets are going to be doing the holding anyways.
thanks for the info, wraith.
mk4 vs mk5 .. havent got a clue which is which though, but i suppose the FW chaos dreads are based on the metal model and should fit.
im gonna have to wait a bit though, my wallet hates me atm.
Check out the Daemonhunters page at FW for an example - there's a full GK dread (Mk.IV) and a GK torso for the GW dread (Mk.V), it makes a pretty simple comparison.
what size magnets did you use/are you going to use? i'm thinking of doing the same thing and i am not sure what size magnets to use or where is a good place to get them. any suggestions or ideas?
im using 3x2 mm neodym-magnets, a good allround size, since ill be using them for everything, pretty much.
small enough to fit everywhere from rhino-pieces to marine's arms
got them from a swedish hobby shop, MFT Micro Flight Tec HB - Allt inom modellflyg
Amazing Magnets is the most used overseas shop as i understand.
