Has anyone had any ink done that represents their chosen chapter/race/period within the GW world or 40K universe?
I've been toying with the idea of having a 5 inch Aquila tattoo'd just under my collar line on my back. I've played about with some hecto-graphic paper to see how it would look.
I was just wondering if anyone else has done a similar thing, and could post some pics of the work you've done.
I was going to get my entire back done as if the Mark of Khorne was tearing out from under my skin. Then i thought nah lol. I've never ever really wanted to get a tattoo done. However, my mate did get a space marine painted on his back. Its hilarious cause its the size of a SM model and it just generally does look rather shit lol.
A friend of mine has an Eldar Harlequin on his calf.

I've thought about getting a Sister Repentia on my right calf and a Slaneshi Demonette on the left, but I keep buying minis instead of saving the money.
Sounds like a mistake in the making if you ask me.
I really would suggest you think very long and hard before you do this.
It’s something which will stay with you forever.
If I was you I would maybe get the tattoo done in henna first. It’s
a Indian style of temporary tattoo. It should only cost you a small
amount to get it done or you could try doing it yourself.
Check out this page to see how it’s done.

LOL - most disturbing idea if you ask me! Tattooing is not something to be taken lightly, almost 30% of people who do them later regret their choice. Having a tattoo of your boyfriend's name/pic, football team, flower/dolphin (only because you want something), favorite singer or SM Chapter is even sillier IMHO. I would reconsider this several times before doing anything hasty.
And yes, I do have a tattoo, however it is not something that I will grow out of in two years when I stop playing with toy soldiers. And, as a matter of fact, I know someone that has a sign of Aquila taking over the whole upper back. Looks rather large and dark, but I guess it is not too 40K-specific to be recognized as a sign of voluntary slavery to GW. To me looks kind of like a German two-headed eagle from their national emblems actually...
Respect your own body.
Tasteful tattoos can be very cool; but logos and trademarks don't exactly fall under that category. I'm not saying this to be mean, but people who get tattoos of logos, insignia, or trademarks tend to look like complete tools. Just giving fair warning...
I have quite a few tattoos myself, and I plan to get more work done in the near future. Here's a tip: Find a design you like, wait at least four to six months, then see if you still want it. That's how I've done it; so far I don't regret any of them. Also, find an artist who's not just after your money, one who's actually not afraid to tell you that your ink idea is stupid. They're hard to find, but there are artists out there who will work with you to ensure you get a quality, meaningful piece of art on your body.
As was said above, respect your body. Its kinda the only one ya got...

Tattoos are only as big a deal as you make them. To be honest, as long as your tattoo isn't on your face or hands it really doesn't matter; if you don't like it later on, well, cover it up with a sleeve or another tattoo. Regretting a tattoo isnt the end of the world. I have lots I regret (I used to be a tattoo artist) but it's not like it eats away at me every time I look at them.

i'd stay away from using obvious icons myself.
a well done daemonette might look tasty though.
theres always "that guy" that goes overboard and sets an example of how not to do it.
Research your icon and find a better picture if you really want it doing. All GW names and icons have their history based elsewhere.
For example, the dark angels > master azrael > the angel of death.
And a quick google image search brings up this image : http://www.vandalhigh.com/color/azrael.jpg
which is just a quick example of something which represents the angel of death to everyone else, but you know what it means to you and what it represents. No one need know if you don't want them to, and you'll still have a cool looking tat.
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.
I've always wanted an angel on one side and a demoness on the other, so it isn't something that I will rush into without thinking. Just something to remind me that there are always two ways to do something and the easier looking one isn't always the best choice. It has only recently jumped to 40k specific. Thought about a Penitent engine for a time, but didn't want to explain it every time.
And you never get a name tattooed on you ever. Just sooo wrong.
