| Member | Hi folks, it's been a while since I visited but I was looking for some opinions on the new army I have designed for use in Warhammer Fantasy Battle. I just about have all the units in place and am working on the magic items, aqua lore and characters. I'd really appreciate any ideas/suggestions you have. You can rate posts and I really need some suggestions for points values so please leave them in the "comments & points value suggestions" link under each unit's post. Here it is:- Nautica Thanks for reading and I hope you like what I've done so far.

Rep Power: 63 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Fishmen ![]() An interesting concept, though I think you've got too many Rares and the army itself just seems like normal humans but with a fishy aftertaste. Try to make them more unique and flavorful. And if you're going to emulate any particular race, go with Lizardmen, as they seem the closest fluffwise and ruleswise to how I'd envision Fishmen. Basic fishmen could be S2 T2 but come in large numbers and have scaly skin. Then you add in big beasties (I like giant crabs and jellyfish, though a kraken or octopus would be hard to do) and various other hybrids. The less "human" they are, the better I==M==HO.

Rep Power: 5 ![]() ![]() | Fact is that they would probably hate the Old Ones/Slann as well as Daemons, as they reshaped the world. And I doubt the bigger gribblies would be able to land themselves, making them "fly" is a little far fetched - a Manta Ray can't fly :-p Maybe give them Sea Dragons (many dragons fled Chaos to the bottom of teh seas) that can't fly, and give them massive spear launchers etc crewed by Nauticans. Giant Crabs and the like, Sea Snake swarms would be nice, and maybe all weapons can be upgraded with stonefish poison? Finally, if they predate magic, I doubt they would have their own magic to the extent you have them. To compensate, maybe their disbelief in magic is so strong they have a great resistance to real magic? |

| Member | Thanks you very much for your replies and for reading the army list. Other people have mentioned the manta rays and argued against them in the army so I may need to take this into account. I will also take onboard - pun intended - the appearance of the Nauticns, I had envisioned them looking elfish like with webbed feet, hands, gills behind their jaws and scales around their ankles and necks. Also, I appreciate that they are not yet themed enough but it's still early days and this is the very first draft. I might also give them something akin to magic which they use in the magic phase but quite different in it's feel and possibly execution. My focus is moving toward elemental powers obviously focused around water. I'm well away from the finished article and am taking into account all the comments here and on other forums. I have added a updates panel on the left of the page so you can seea brief summary of changes and the dates they were made. This way you can just check the small changes rather than re-reading the whole army list. ==Me==, I loved this... "and the army itself just seems like normal humans but with a fishy aftertaste. " lol (and I take the point)Please check every now and then. There should be at least 1 update every week. Thanks again for your help, Sigmar

| Your ad here ![]() ![]() ![]() | Looks very cool at first glance. I'll read the rest after my evening constitutional. ![]() Edit: I'm duly impressed. How long did you spend on it? I love how clearly you've explained everything, and the concept is extraordinary. Last edited by DavidVC04; August 8th, 2008 at 02:12. |

| Member | Thanks very much DavidVC04. I haven't had to spend too much time on it so far. Mainly just time sitting in the garden with a beer or on the train to work and sometime lying in bed at night ![]() I think the work has only just begun really. I have lots of magic items to come up with and characters and lots of tweaking and then play testing. One, we have a consensus in the Warhamer community that the army is reasonably well balance I'll be looking for playtesters to porvide some detailed feedback. Also, I need a concept artist to add some nice fluffy piccies. Then, the big job... as far as I'm concerned... is writing up all the fluff. In the end it will come as a free pdf for anyone to download. Thanks for your input and comments, Sigmar

| Member | I've put a few more bits and pieces online for anyone interested. Notably:- Admiral Lord Nolsen (special character) Aqua Lore (6 spells) & some spell caster details And quite a few tweaks to units following suggestions on forums If you're interested in following what's going on with the Nautican project, I am keeping it updated about once every 3 days. I've added a draft number (currently 1.1) and the date of the last update and a link to show what's changed (all down the left hand pane) to help you keep track. Thanks for your support, Sigmar

| For Beard and Lady! ![]() | I really like the undead sailor aspects. May I suggest a legendary ghost ship as a Special character? If I were to make a Nauticans list, I'd probably try to build a list that's basically undead pirates. So, maybe add an undead rare option.
