A new low I heard of was at a store tournament in my area. I wasn't there, but two of my gaming mates can corroborate this. Dude (who eventually won the tournament) starts playing a game. Said mate is playing him, smells something from opponents young child. Trying to be polite, mate asks opponent, "Do you need to change your son, I can wait." (Mind you, the kid has gone #2) Opponent says, "He can wait" Opponent plays 40k for two hours before changing his own son's diaper. That's by far the worst I've ever heard of. |

Though A neat solution would be for GW stores to have foam warhammers in store to settle disputes. Think about it. It could work.

Edit - There were GW officials there - that means this situation could potentially be a HUGE liability for GW. Not sure how they tolerated it.

The scariest thing for me about that satirical post from Warseer is that there probably ARE people out there who really do think like that. I remember my first, and at this point still my only, game of Warhammer Fantasy. I was trying out my Orcs & Goblins against a friend at the nearest GW last year. Now, as I mentioned, this was my first game. I've played 40K on and off since I was 14, so I had a grasp of the general rules. Anyway, two kids who I didn't even know came up to me and started giving me crap about how my army wasn't painted, how it was too small for a decent game (500 points), and how I was woefully bad at this game and they could do so mcuh better. They eventually started moving my stuff, rolling my dice, until I was watching them play my friend using my army. In the end I went off to get a smoothie, then came back and asked them if I won. Apparently I did not, because I am bad at the game and if I'd let them help me more, I would've won easily; even though I had picked a horrible list. I wonder if it is this experience that's lessened my enthusiasm for gaming in GW?

fortunately/unfortunately (for this thread) I've never had an issue like these at my local or in deed any game of 40K i've played. The closest was when i was just getting into the game in 2nd ed. my mate and i would get into a rules dispute or a dispute on just how much of a modifier a trooper got when firing because of cover. These "disagreements" would go for about 10 minutes of fighting before being rolled off on with one of us not being satisfied with the result. Regardless we continued to play (although the a,mount of games we actually ever finished....)

I played a game of fantasy against a guy, whom had a great list and tactics, got horrible rolls for shooting, magic, anything, while I got awesome rolls for everything I did. Eventually he got so frustrated he started throwing every miniature that died staight onto the ground. I told him that we had to stop playing because it was getting to intense and he needed to chill. He's actually a great guy, it was just so wierd he couldn't handle it. I still play with him and nothing like that has ever happened again.

I say "kid" because the other guy was in his 30's. The "kid" was probably early 20's. You don't touch my models unless you ask first, I am pretty use thats a universal rule accepted by all the non jerk players of the world. |

Hahahaha! I'll be taking all of those stories with a big old grain of salt. And when I say 'big' I mean 'That's no moon' big.

Nearest I've seen to this is one of my gaming friends who is determined to instil the fear factor into his dice. To this end, whenever a dice of his rolls poorly, he will take it outside the garden shed where we play, and pound it into oblivion with a sledgehammer. As his current number of dice is now around 3, I would say his plan is failing somewhat.
