| Ahhhhh.... ![]() | pfft! Hahaha! hahaha... Anyways.. I love both 40k and Fantasy games.. in fact, I love all miniature games, including *gasp* Warmachine/Hordes, and I have multiple armies of each (at least 2+). Each miniature game has its up and downs, and they also play differently. It's very hard to compare the games .. Both Fantasy and 40K games have shooting and combat, but Fantasy is more focused towards combat while 40k is mostly about shooting. Both games have equal tactical value in the movement part of the game... both game could take equally amount of time to play -- think about Imperial Guards and Tyranids that take 15 minutes just to move their guys every turn. I've started playing 40K since 3rd edition, and 6th edition for Fantasy... I cant say much about the old-school 2nd/3rd edtion of Fantasy but I do hear things from friends that used to play them .. they told me it was all HeroHammer and DiceHammer back then. As for 3rd/4th to 5th 40k edition transition, I do have to say that it's pretty big change. I feel 5th edition is more balanced and more enjoyable more than ever. Back in the 3rd/4th edition, an extreme shooty or combat-ty army will mostly win every game/tournaments -- ex. Tau/Chaos/Nids etc etc. What they did to the 5th edition balanced out all these problems! An extremely shooty army like Tau will find that their shooting effectiveness has been cut half by all the 4+ cover save and the ability to goto ground. Meanwhile, an extremely combat-ty army such as Tyranids will no longer be able to eat through an entire army with just a couple genestealers because of the new consolidation rule. There is also the Imperial Guards, expert at long-term out-door camping will no longer have that luxury because of the new objective rule. ... but to be honest ... PC GAMES FTW! pfffttttttttt....

I think the general thing with 40k fans is that never played 2nd ed, many of the people such as myself who dont like it tend to compare it to this, i think the only thing i actually liked about the newer editions of 40k was the army books and force organization charts, well and the loss of over watch (was a real pain).
