I'm currently running a small 40k league at my hobby shop and we're playing on 4' x 4' tables at 1000pts. I used to play a lot of 1750pt games and some 2000pt fantasy games on 4' x 8' tables. Just curious as to what people usually play on or prefer when playing 1500-1850pt 40k and 2000pt fantasy games. The 4' x 8' tables or the 4' x 6' tables. Would like to know when I want to do bigger games in store so I can prepare. Thanks.

I find that for a 1500 point game (in 40k) 4x6 is plenty of space for tactical movement. this is coming from someone who uses 3 leman russes 2 chimera and around 60-80 troops at 1500 points (i stil have plenty of room in my deployment zone)

At my store, when we play fantasy we use 4x6 tables. Oddly enough, we also play 1000pt games on 4x4 tables, and it works just fine for small point games.

I prefer 4x6 for games around 2000 points, and 4x4 for games much under. 2x8 is a bit too spread out for smaller games. That said, my own board is 5x8. When I first started the hobby, we would play games on a 5x8 the long way. That was pretty horrible before we got it.

We play 2000 point fantasy games on 6x4 boards, but smaller games on 4x4boards ( 1000 points ).

4'x6' is an excellent size of board for 1500 points though is to large for anything under that really. It all depends onhow much terrain you have on it. 4'x8' is an odd size really but and odd size like 6'x6' is useful when moving above the 2000pt margin.
