This is our 1st store tournament we will be holding so I wanted to get some feedback from as many people as possible. Obviously I want this to be a good experience for everyone playing in it, but I also want it to be fair and a good tourny. It's going to be a 40k 1500pt tourny on 4' x 6' tables and I'm chargine $10 per entry with % going back to the winners. Here's a more in depth look:
14 player limit. First come first serve basis.
What you see is what you get. This is going to be a strict rule and if any model is used that isn't correct it will be pulled and you will have to play without it. There are some exceptions such as extra armor for vehicles or models that GW doesn't make.
Overall winner gets 40% of the entry fees in a store gift certificate
Best Sportsman gets 20% of the entry fees in a store gift certificate
Best Painted Army gets 20% of the entry fees in a store gift certificate
Best General gets 20% of the entry fees in a store gift certificate
No army is to exceed 1500pts.
Only armies with a codex are allowed and only the latest codex and rules are to be used for each army.
Bring two copies.
Point Values of all models in the armiesPoint Values of all purchased upgrades and special equipmentStandard composition is going to be used. Meaning a minimum of 1 HQ and 2 troops.Players are to stick with only the army list they turned in at the beginning of the tournament.SceneryThe scenery that is placed on the table will not be moved unlesscomes first.
specifically stated in a scenario. It is very important to
discuss with the opponent before the game how terrain affects the movement and line of sight of models.
Missions will handed out and those are the only ones that are to be played for that round.
Played on 4' x 6' tables.
Games are played either 6 turns or when the time limit expires, whicheverSportsmanshipPainting
4 points : Exceptional Sport. Enjoyable and/or fun game because of this person. This person might role-play the army rather than purely play to win or lose. You would play this person again anytime. Army list represents the army well.
3 points : Good Sport. Person is fun to play. Had a good time playing the game and the person had a good army.
2 points : Okay Sport. Overall a good person, but plays only to win and might argue the rules. No complaints on the army.
1 point : Poor Sport. Might take advantage of newbies or throw a fit on a poor dice roll. Complain if game doesn't go their way. Person may have stalled to get a better advantage. Army list might be cheesy.
0 points : Terrible Sport .Tried every loophole in the rules. Would always complain. Took away any enjoyment from the game. Would like to never play this person again. Army list was built to take advantage of the rules.
4 points: Whole Army painted .Master quality painted. Leaders stand out. Unique bases.
3 Points: Whole Army painted. Nice quality on all models. Based.
2 Points: Whole Army painted with at least 5 different colors. Doesn't stand out, but is nice army. Based.
1 Point: Army is painted with at least 3 different colors. Person didn't splash on paint to make points.
0 Points: Army isn't painted or based.
4 points: Massacre, player killed opponents entire army.
3 Points: Win.
2 Points: Draw.
1 Point: Loss.
0 Points: Forfeit.
9:30am Players arrive with extra army list done to be turned in. Missions are handed out.

12pm-1pm Lunch Break (Tables will be set up and missions put on tables during this time).

Any thoughts are appriciated. Thanks.
It looks like you got all the basics covered.
I took part in a torny last weekend and it was lots of
fun but very disorganized which made it feel a bit of a let down also there were
no prizes for winning or painting but hey like i said it was fun which is really the Most important thing about. Good luck.

I AM BOOMER!
Thanks a lot for taking the time Boomer. I've played in tournies, but not for sometime and because this is the first one we're doing I want it to be done right.
Definitely advertise this as a casual only tourny. Make this very clear. If you're charging admission and giving prizes... you're going to have competition. That's fine, but make sure EVERYONE knows the rules before entering. That's my only advice. I've seen these things backfire before.
