***This IS NOT a "what music do you like?" thread. It applies only while Warhammering.***
Warhammer - verb. Action word, used to describe any form of action involving the Warhammer hobby, painting, gluing models, converting, battling, etc.
Example: "Yo man what you doing?
"I'm warhammering. you?"
[Edited out by Moderators]
I was originally going to call this, "What music do you listen to when you BATTLE!?!?!?" but I then realised theres a whole lot more to the hobby than just battling.
ANYWAYS, what music do you guys listen to whenever you Warhammer? I REALLY don't like the majority of stuff that is played at GW. They have a habit of liking hard rock, or lame metal. I personally listen to the following artists during Warhammering:
Coheed & Cambria
Blind Guardian (ESPECIALLY Blind Guardian)
If you know the bands I've mentioned, you'll notice that the Battling music is much faster than the rest. Because my style of playing (Dark Eldar) is all about FAST FAST FAST so the music must match!
What about you guys?

Well, this thread is certainly original... I'll give you that.
As for me, I occasionally listen to the radio when painting or converting. Cuts back on the swearing I find myself doing when something goes wrong.
But seriously, I just find it helps quite a bit if you have something to listen to. Besides, if I don't listen to the radio, I find something will get stuck in my head anyway.
My GW doesn't play rock or metal, it plays LoTR music from the movie soundtracks and the like.
When I hobby, I usually listen to a book on tape, usually Harry Potter (lame I know). I do this because as well as reading the books, I have been listening to them on tape (or CD, or Ipod) since the first one, and as I am only 16, this is a decent portion of my life. I don't really even listen to them anymore, now I've heard them all a million times, but the sound of Jim Dale's(the reader) voice is just what I like to listen to while painting/modeling. Go figure.
While battling, most of the time I listen to the LoTR stuff because I'm at my GW, but when with friends we listen to rock mostly, old stuff with a lot of ACDC and Black Sabbath. We have a playlist that we use both while battling and playing Airsoft.
Music thread, gotta love them!
When painting/gluing/converting/anything that is not gaming, I listen to Metallica, Nightwish, Sonatat Arctica, and the list goes on and on and on...
When battling however, it's really cool to have some movie soundtracks, either it's Star Wars, LotR, Indiana Jones, and the list goes on and on and on...
Nice thread by the way

I don't have any type of "preferred" music for painting or building. I usually either hum to myself (it's NOT lame- i play real instruments too) or I listen to my collection. I just cut the hard stuff out, because I don't need the stress. Of course, my Space marines were all painted to the tune of hard-rock and metal...
When I game, it's a mix. I like music that keeps my calm, so classical music is good, or orchestral peices. I like soundtracks (Hannibal being a personal favorite) but also stuff like Beethoven or Vivaldi.
Also- I know trash talk gets ugly, but really, you should edit that post before a mod sees it. You're lining yourself up for a serious beating right there.
Well, for close combat, it just has to be this.
But in general, I listen to just about anything whilst modelling/painting. When playing, I actually prefer no music, except maybe classical music quietly in the background.
Rork: In the dark future of the 41st millennium there is only friendship.
Fenrir: and magic.
Kaiser-: My Little Chaos Marine, Friendship is Heresy?
Well my friend listens to the more insane variety of metal (screamo and others) but the one song that fits my friend's orks is ten thousand fists. just imagine the horde of screaming greenskins while listening to it.
oh and for the end of close combat, i say bodies by smoke over water. (let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor...)
My local GW plays the generic metal choices like dragonforce, tool, korn, some slayer and killswitch, you know that kind of stuff. And although I don't mind it, I was grown on metal I wish they would try some different stuff, but I doubt I'd change any minds.
Me personally, I like anything fast really and since most warhammer players I've met or know or even seen look very much like the average metalhead so I'm sure they'd have no trouble with metal for music.
