Happily browsing the interwebs, I stumbled across the new GW website. What the hell were they thinking? They managed to make every single link obsolete. I wanted to find a building template I knew they had on there somewhere. Nothing. The old links still stand, surely enough, but when clicking on it, it leads me to the home page.
It seems that GW not only made a horrible new layout, they also managed to push every single hobby aspect out of the way and replace it with shameless "WHY MAKE YOUR OWN IF YOU CAN BUY OURS!?" type of advertisements.
Didn't anybody find themselves angry about this? All those links of careful pruning of the interwebs resulting into nothing! I can't even find the old IG introduction scenario anymore. I had to get it from the Oz website! At least they still do it right...
I must be getting too old for interwebs...
I agree 100%, the new website is mostly rubbish, it's slow and harder to navigate and is more of a catalogue than a hobby resource.
As I never really looked too much at the GW site, I wasn't too worried by the move. Annoyed, yes, but my life has in no major way been inconvenienced. Then they shifted the Specialist Games content. That, for me, was the final straw. Oh well, made the move to PP that much easier.
Sorry about the rant. Just thought I'd add my two cents here.
Scratch that. Canadian website has also succumbed to the "main page only" craze. GW is rapidly estranging customers this way, I am certain of it.
Don't be surprised if the Oz site falls in the next few months. I believe GW want to coalesce all their sites into one. Good idea in theory.
i also dislike the fact that both the FW and GW websites need Firefox to run well. IE takes forever to load stuff, or it errors out. it should not take me 30 min to trick the website into adding some Death Guard shoulder pads into my shopping cart only to have them dissapear when i go to check out.
May the "Nurgley Goodness" protect you!
Another version of thread, a very lengthy one at this, already exists over in news and previews. You can join the chorus of naysayers there.
(And yes, the new site blows pretty hard.)
