Today i was playing with a group of friends i am evily converting to the most expensive hobbys of their lives (40k he he he) And i noticed that we all had our own battle cry that we uttered when we rolled.
For example One guy yelled "Save Me! Captain America"
Whenever i roll for my plasma guns i bet how many ones im gona get for over heat (my record is 6 ones killing all 3 veteran plasma gunners in my IG army)
What are the strange habbits that you find you and your friends do while playing your 40k and FB games?
"Thank him who puts me loath to this revenge on you who wrong me not for him who wrongd"
"Baby needs a new pair of shoes!"
Hmm. Maybe I should start betting on the outcome of games....
"Pickles, the drummer, doodily doo. (Ding-dong, doodily, doodily, doo.)"
Also, you should google "garfield minus garfield". Awesome.
"Dice Gods, Give me POWER!"
If I roll well "Thine Power be Great!"
If I roll badly "Why have you forsaken me!?"
Oddly enough, whenever I pray to the dice gods, I (usually) roll well. I'm even making a little temple as a terrain piece dedicated to the gods. My casualties in battle will be sacrificed upon the altar.
60 percent of the time, it works, everytime.

Anywhere from begging the dice, to "LOAD HEAT (Or SABOT)!"
And sometimes, "DANGER CLOSE! FIRE FOR EFFECT"
"Speed is life! You go slow, you die!"
-Sgt. Unther, Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries
Don't mean to sound like a Scrooge McDuck but tbh, shouting a "dice roll battle cry" is a bit too far for me - the game is perceived to be juvenile enough as it is without going that far. I can understand the shop staffers urging the kids to do it, gets them more involved, but anyone else? o.O
Also, and more importantly, I'd prefer it if dice rolling had no commentary at all. For example, I've seen people lose it at tournaments when, on important rolls, their opponent stamped their feet and chanted "one one one one" - in essence the same as a battle cry, just against your opponent.
All for people getting involved in the hobby and immersed in the fluff but given how dependent the game is on the dice and how tense it can be, for the sake of a smooth game that doesn't resort to physical violence, just throw the dice and avoid winding people up. Do the battle cry in your head
i just like, mumble inwardly like "cmon cmon cmon do it"
MEAT IS MURDER, And murder tastes pretty good! :D
A friend fo mine allways rolls exactly what he doesn't need. and is notorius for loosing games that are impossible to loose by rolling double 1 in the last turn of the game, failing to kill any stealers using 5 heavy bolters and stuff like that. His battle cry is "Damn it all to hell!"
I just love that so I have taken it to be my battle cry for dice rolling as well
I usually just state what ai need, with the odd prayer to the Emperor for protection when taking cover saves.
Arch Overfiend & Grand Despot
I currently play:
Doom Eagle Space Marines
Hive Fleet Omega Tyranids
Goff Ork Boyz(dead)
Tau of O'me
Inquisitorial Xeno Hunters
and my attempted foray into fantasy
'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
I normally just say what I need as rolling, which follows me having said the same thing probably 5 times previously just so no one is in any doubt as to whats needed. I also find its a chance for the opponent to correct/agree with me before the dice are rolled.
Currently play: 4000+ of Black Legion
