So I was in a second hand fleamarket just browsing for anything interesting, and suddenly I notice the WH 40k starter set with Space Marines and Dark Eldar. I checked the price and it was only 20€ (the original price is 80€). There's a sticky on the set that says "Everything except a few things included". Of course I would've checked inside the box, but everyone would've assumed I was stealing so I decided to be naive on this one. So I go to the register and buy this thing and head home. When I open the box, I notice that the box was missing ALL the space marines and the rule book! All I got were the dark eldars and jungle trees. I didn't mind paying 20€ for the dark eldars since first hand a squad of DE warriors costs 25€ (and the DE I got weren't assembled or anything) , but i was feeling very annoyed that someone has the nerve to cheat people like that.
Anyone else have experiences like this?
No I've never had an experiance like this, because I don't really trust anyone.
I'm sorry to say in the world of the free market it's buyer beware, never leave anything to chance always check. I would've walked up to the register and asked to have a look inside to see what I was buying first, they probably would have been more than happy to let you look under their watchful eyes and then making a discovery like this you would have three options:
1. Buy it!
2. Haggle over price due to the missing pieces.
3. Leave it!
I'm sorry to hear you were deceived but those are the stakes when you buy sight unseen.

All you can do is live and learn!
ALWAYS check when you buy stuff, seen lots of boxes where the contents have been split or are missing a few KEY components (most recently, an incomplete copy of Horus Heresy Board Game, I eventually got a second complete copy, so have two sets of most counters)

Hahahahah, i got a metal 40k daemon prince for 2,50 € at a flea sale once.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
