The High Elves of Caledor?
The Vampire Counts of Lord Chatould?
The Empire, Rebels of Cloavre
Purple Nurgle! misguided Men of Chaos
In mid November my local shop will be hosting yet another WHFB tournament. I have competed in their tourney's only once before, placing 4th out of 10 people. But that was my first tournament EVER and this time I'm out to do alot more damage! They've upgraded from a 1,999pt setting, to a fully loaded 2,000pt setting. So I'm putting it to vote: what army should I use?!
NOTE: unfortunately, my local shop has not received it's shipment of WoC armybooks yet, and i will not be able to get one until 5 minutes before the tournament. For this reason, I'm afraid that the Purple Nurlge are going to have to sit it out. However, I will remember that they have quite the fan-backing, and will be sure to play them next time.
I went with VCs, because the army is generally more competitive of the four. From what I know, they're more of a "tourney" army than the other three.
If you're in an environment where composition scores are given for armies, I would go with high elves. However, in the pure 'Ard Boyz type tournament scene go for the obscene VC.
Haha- I like Dave's reasoning: it flatters me.
But in all honesty, I've got 3 people pointing out why I should take Vamps (because they're uber- I know, i took them last time), but I've only got 1 person explaining the Elves.
As for challenge however, I have a feeling that my "Caledor" list will include my brand new Teclis model, and/or a DMage. I could take victory with a more balanced force I'm sure, but I doubt many people can withstand a magical assault backed with units of Dragon Princes.
My counts are a straight-up competition army. They have a 6-0 record and friendly players have told me not to bring them. The Empire are just the opposite. I'll win for painting and composition, but they're too weak unless I get some swords.
My Warriors are also a competition themed army, and they're new. I'm itching to use them SOMEWHERE, but I'd be racing to paint them.
However- I am true to the people, and I will use whatever army you vote for. Infact, the morning that I'm packing I'll keep refreshing the page to see who'll be hitting the foam- so keep voting!
I'd also have to Vampire counts, they're a really hard army to contend with!
I voted for warriors for these reasons.
1. New armies usually do well because they have more recent rules/units/ect. Plus Chaos has always been known as a competitive army.
2. As a new army people aren't going to know how to react to some of the new stuff. This will give you a better chance of finding a mistake.
3. You said yourself you wanted a chance to play with them...
I'm the only one to vote empire..
high elves as the teclis dragon prince bolt thrower list is devestating. With vampire counts you will really need to protect that general which with flyers and rule of burning Iron sometimes isn't possible
Daemonic cheese-how? Well, you would need to start with daemonic milk, i guess...
