I'm painting my first unit of TK skellies this weekend and I was planning on make a movement tray for obvious reasons. I can't say I like the GW trays at all, nor do I really see the need to spend that kind of money on a flat piece of plastic.
Having said that, I'd like to know what other people do for their trays. Do you weight your bases on your plastics as well? Magnets and metal trays?
Show me what you've got, LO!
I use GW trays converted to be magnetic. Cutting a metal sheet and gluing it into to tray and putting a small magnet in the base of all my troops make movement so much nicer.
Amazingmagnets.com is where I get mine, and the metal for the trays can be found at your local DIY store.
You can also buy magnetic bases from gf9.com
I’ve seen people use just the metal and it looks neat to not have the extra lip the movement trays have.
I used to make them out of cardboard. Guess for cost you could buy some sheet styrene and make your own. The new modular movement tray system by gw is very good.
