I am on a temporarily enforced hiatus from the hobby due to an (hopefully) imminent house move, and her indoors as tightened the purse strings and developed some sort of obsession with keeping the house tidy.
That means all spare cash is to be left unspent, all 'silly little men' have to be packed away so I can't even sneak any home when she's out. A suspicious woman is a dangerous thing.
So, I'm kinda stuck.
You know the feeling when you are at work and all you want to do is go home and paint something, but then when you get home you just put the tv on and fall asleep? Well, now I can't do all the painting I should have done I really want to.
I've read most of the 40k BL books, aside from the silly space wolves novels. I've even bought two new ones (Daemon World and Dark Apostle) that I don't really want to read.
She won't let me fork out for a £40 Imperial Armour book. I've read all the codices studiously, i've written and rewritten a hundred army lists, I bought DOWII but my crap laptop won't run it...
I sit down and try to write something - SM chapter fluff, an Imperial Armour style campaign book, campaign rules etc and I have writers block...
Throw some inspiration at me - it might be months before I can do anything again! What do you do when you can't do the things you do?
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.
I come on to Lib Online or re-read WD or novels constantly. Due to time constraints Id normally only get 2 days of hobby stuff in in a fortnight so not much I can do there.
Currently play: 4000+ of Black Legion
I have 3 Ball Pythons, 2 of which are morphs, I am planning on getting 2 more and doing a breeding program. I play Bass guitar if I am depressed. I have most every show I have ever watched on my computer. I am interested in a whole series of subjects and have amassed quite a collection of books. I have a love of trying new alcohols, I have a few games that are all fun and very replayable, and I live within walking distance of a Walmart where, if all else fails, I can wander aimlessly for hours and randomly flirt with chicks for no real reason because, lol, you are not going to pick of a girl at Walmart.
Though I would be a lot happier if I didn't live with a guy who is essentially a pot junkie, if I had a decent paying job, and had a car. Meh, those are the things I have to work on.
So yeah, I got lots to do, and more hobbies than you can shake a stick at.

Play battlemarch on my 360. Or reread old W.D's. I read the horus hersey novles.
I go online and try to find any copying my army ideas. There are quite a few things you can do to take the edge of but i do feel your pain, i move house every 6 months meaning that my stuff gets packed up and im cant do anything hobby related for a week or two. Mostly i just day dream about what my army will look like when its finshed or about grand battles they will win.

I AM BOOMER!
Glue, read or spend.
I've found that reading is the best of the three.
Well useally if i am not able or cannot be bothered to do warhammer stuff, I will generally either play my pc or xbox 360, Browse the net for buying more warhammer stuff and Look at forums for more inspiration on my next modals.
Like most i just read over a book or armybook/rulebook to keep me buzy, I tend to find even stuff to read in rulebooks reguardless how many times i've it over and over.
If i cant be annoyed doing any of the above ill just put a dvd on or what abit of the idiot box but my i tend to stay away from the tv these days.
I enjoy cooking alot these days so that can take a good lot of my time up if needed.
Get/unpack 1500pt army and codex, get a nice carry case for it. Store it outside of the house (at work for example). Play at your local GW or a mates house. No disruption to house moving, problem solved....You can have you cake and eat it.

I spend far too much time surfing the net, play my electric guitars, brew beer and watch Monty Python...
Thou shalt remember:
Warhammer Fantasy armies do NOT have Codices. They have Army Books.

When I'm not working like a pig at Uni. I could:
- Read novels
- Play on my Xbox with numerous cool games, or Halo 3 with my Nemesis; My little brother (being 12 years old, he's pretty good)
- Write stories and books
- Write and re-write army lists
- Read old WD (the couple of issues during the 3rd war for Armageddon is still my favourites)
- Daydream at the awesomeness of GW's artwork
- Cruise around on LO/LO-Chat (sometimes making an ass of myself when I forget certain basic rules)
- Go to my local GW Store
- Look around on Bitz sites and Ebay for bargains
- Play on my PC (mostly DoW and Homeworld 2)
- Go over my friends for a laugh
- Go to the Cinema
- Go to Book store to chat up chicks (they REALLY like thier romance novels )
- Constantly drool over the FW stuff (still holding onto my cash until further notice)
I think that's it... .
I'm set up for a small life on the hobby front, I can't get on with it yet as it's all getting rather pear-shaped here at Uni. So, I've got something to relate to you there.
Though it still doesn't stop me from gaming...
Yeah, what about gaming? that doesn't cost a dime (outside of tournaments).
Assuming your army isn't big enough for that, well, I went through a house move recently, and while it seemed like torture at the time, it's a good thing, I must say, to be away from the hobby. I think if you've spent that much time reading BL books, you really ought to check out some OTHER stuff, lest you begin to think there is no world of literature out there outside of the BL (there are people who think this, no lie, and it's unhealthy).
I discovered I'd forgotten how much I liked playing (or TRYING to play) acoustic guitar. I also kicked my story writing into gear, which hopefully will yield new fruit within the next six months.
Barring all that... take a walk. get some fresh air. They say us gamers don't get enough of that. Come to think of it, I need to look into this "real world" thing. Anybody know if there's a codex for it, or is there just some old Chapter Approved out there somewhere? Hmm? Anyone?
