Greetings my LO comrades,
If some of you remember me, about a year ago (it must have been) I put up a Fan-Picture thread. It went on for a bit, was kinds popular (I hope). So I decided to do it again, with of course new pictures. You'll find none of the old ones, but you can search for it if you like, or just click the link below.
http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...s-discuss.html (40K Fan-Pics/Fan-Flash - Let's discuss.)
Anyway I'll be posting them in IMG tags so you can see them directly. Excuse the long load time, I hope it's not too annoying, if it is then feel free (moderators) to make them into thumbnails or what have you. Also, if any of them are in poor taste (I sincerely hope they aren't) also feel free to remove them. I checked and as far as I can tell they're original, decent non-x-rated but of course the usual blood and gore is to be expected.
Here we go in no particular order. Also if you have some of yours, please post them too!
And anyone else, please comment, I'd love to hear what you think about one, two, or all of them.
Also as a note, some are parodies, after all they are fan-made.
I just HAD to put this one first, it takes the cake by far. No, scratch that, the whole bakery.

You know, I was actually looking around for certain Space Marine images like those for a certain evil plan I have in mind. *giggles sinisterly*
My favorite out of these is the one of the Guardsman firing his weapon. That just looks awesome.
My next favorite is the Hello Kitty lasgun. That just made me laugh, I should do that with mine. Have the Commissar be the only one that doesnt have a Hello Kitty logo somewhere
After that its a toss up between the first Tau female and the Harlequin.
Added more pictures, enlarged some others and edited the background of one to make it stand out a bit more. Please discuss away hehe.
Now that's the Greater Good I can approve off.
And aah, Pretty Marines. Poor, poor Pretty Marines. Always the victim of the Angry Marines. ^^
I feel this is mandatory when it comes to posting /tg/-related 40k art.
And here's my contribution - a tribute to Mead. May Lost in Space live forever!
Edit: Adahn, you and your freaky SoB-CSM interaction. Your work? Because even if the motive is... disturbing I must say that chibi-Horus and chibi-Emperor is awesome sauce.
Also, just noticed the L337 on the battlesuit.... >_<

Chibis are da bomb Camel. Check out the old thread in the link I provided to see the Chibi Sister of Battle killing the Tyranid.
But no, though I do like the Seraphim and Raptor romance thing, as far-fetched as it is.
Just means there's more to that 'subculture' of people who want to see weird couplings or conflicting romance stories amongst the chaos and war of the 41st Millenium Muahaha! Romance is mine!
The Sister/Raptor image was my favorite too. But it's not because of any kind of 'subculture' or anything. I wouldn't care if the source was from 40K or from the artist's head. I simply like the idea of the "bad guy" finding love in a "good girl". I have felt that way in almost every relationship I've been in, so I can connect to that Raptor, or to Mordred, or the fallen Anakin, etc.
I like anime quite a lot, but I have to admit that I feel it will never compare to Realism. Pictures like the Farseer, Fire Warriors, and Guardsman, all take the cake in my book. They convey emotion through facial expression, posture, and environment, rather than relying on overstated things like Chbis or exaggerated sweat beads.
That having been said, all of these pictures are great, and inspired me to get my own pen out and do some work. However, I have a question to all of these wonderful artists: why 40K? why not something of your own inspiration or a drawing done from life. For example- the image of the Cadian looks shockingly similar to a modern G.I. Does the lasgun and the aquila really make him stand out as that much more? I think that the effort would be better spent, and would resonate more, if it were switched for an M16 and Jumpwings.
Again- just my opinion, and a great job nonetheless. I wish that I could paint half so well as that.
Well I think 40k provides inspiration and motives for some very interesting art. It doesn't have to be all Marines blasting away with their bolters. Just look at Blanche, my by far most favourite GW artist. He (IMO) provides some amazing art that clearly stands out from the rest "run of the mill"-artwork.
A lot of artists take inspiration from fantastic realms just like many takes from everyday life. I see no real reason why a modern motive would be just as good or superior really, but that's my opinion.
