Bumped into this interesting empirical test on rolling dice (including GW dice): DakkaDakka - Articles - That's How I Roll - A Scientific Analysis of Dice. Turns out that dice which don't have rounded corners and which don't have "impurities" (air bubbles or the like) in them will be better to play with than cheaper dice - pretty fun to read.
So, what they're saying is I should buy my opponents generous gifts of GW dice?
meh, i do have the nice g.w dice but i dont use cos they cost so much!
Some people must have a lot of time on their hands to do reseach like that...
it just seems such a trivel and pointless issue. You can't always roll one or always roll sixes it's always going to be chance no matter what. Unless cocked dice are real and thats just cheating.
I AM BOOMER!
I never used GW dice, i had a ton of chessex dice before i started playing warhammer
As someone who cant field plasma weapons PERIOD because they always end up killing themselves due to this phenomenon I will certainly take the advice to heart.

Forumjayz accussed me of never rolling a misfire on my hellvolley dice, so i tried it out yesterday took me 8 rolls to get a misroll! Let's keep it that way!
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
We got a guy at our store who always rolls 1's and 2's pretty much, and cusses for like twenty minutes afterwards. This is coupled with his horrible placements and shooting stuff he has no chance to kill, but blames everything on his dice.
Yeah a "One of those..." players, so he deserves it pretty much.
I am one of those people who just has horrible dice. I despise my dice, as they fail me at the most inopportune times. I don't mathhammer often, but I can run the odds fairly quickly and I know what it's good to charge and when it's good to stay home. But I've had models with Hatred, Frenzy, and WS7 roll in and flop their attacks. Honestly folks- what the hell is that?!
So I went and bought myself some casino dice. Let me tell you- it hasn't helped much. Really, sure- GW dice are rounded. However, remember that it's a lot of marketing telling you that they roll low. They don't. Well, they don't roll "low". They just roll inaccurately. Some dice will roll straight 6's. Others roll straight 1's. A box of them will still just about average out. So you won't see large margins of error until you start rolling just a few dice at a time. I use this to advantage. If I roll high to hit, I try to roll those exact same dice to wound, while laying aside the "low-rollers" for things like Leadership, scatter, and characteristic checks. It doesn't start to even out until about turn3, but it can really help. Thusly, I have a reputation (with my gw dice) of my dice having a 'comeback' closer to the end of the game. To expedite the process, sometimes I just keep rolling fistfuls of dice off to the side as a 'nervous tic', culling them as quickly as possible.
I think that I roll more 1's than anything else when I play, but I do use GW dice
