Iv been lulling around the idea of purchasing a valkyrie tomorrow and im having second thoughts. id use it mainly for apocalypse (using the rules found in imperial armor volume two) but i may also use it for planet strike and (possibly) normal games.
So i came here to ask... Is it a good kit? would those of you who have bought it and used one recomend it? if not il just buy a load of fantasy.
Thanks in advance!
Sometimes the best defense is a good offense... Wait, what?
I cannot speak to it in gameplay yet, but I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the model itself.
go for it.
from what i've seen, a valkyrie with multiple rocket pods is about the best choice with a stock vendetta close behind, it depends on what you need. but the pod valkyrie is like ultimate anti-horde... anti-infantry in general when brought in numbers. and with that 3-melta veteran layout to stick in them, anti-tank covered almost as well too.
ps. i don't use either just cause i a firm supporter of just spamming command and infantry squads supported by sentinels.... that is to say though, that i've seen a bunch of games with the new local ig players use them to rather good effect.
Itís a nice looking model, fits together reasonably well and isnít hard to make. I use two with pods and ML my army is fully mech anyway so they probably work better for me (I say probably because I have only used them once) than a static army would find perhaps. They certainly provide IG with a whole new set of opportunities.
Is it worth £35? No, I can buy bigger and more complex kits from my local model store for a third of the price. However thatís GW you accept that what you buy is more than itís really worth or you donít get involved in the hobby. I will use mine all the time and I play at least once a fortnight, providing Iím still in this hobby four or so years down the line when 6th edition is looming and the IG codex will be looking worn out I will consider a £70 purchase well spent.
I bought the model as a change of pace and was pretty happy with it. I magnetized all of the hardpoints so that I can swap stuff out as needed
